When we eat beans or listen to hifi many things are affecting our interpretation of that experience. As well as expectation bias, mood, environment etc etc are factors beyond our conscious control. Try to explain placeabo! Examples of all our senses being fooled are all around us - sight, sound...

An AV amp gives an infinite range of "effects" including reverb etc etc. My experience is that they are largely a waste of time. Sounds like chasing a rainbow to me.
