    Rega Planar 6/Ania Matching

if you have the budget the elicit is a way better amplifier than the elex, or it is to my ears. The limiting choice at your dealer is the cartridge. The ania is a fine sounding cartridge, and with its 3 point fitting, installing it into a rega arm is simple. Given the cost of the ania, plus a...

    Rega RP1 Sound Distortion

The arm is not self balancing, it is totally manual. What are you using to align the cart with, how are you checking the tracking force, how are you setting the antiskate, and what cart is it. How clean or otherwise is your vinyl. Vinyl and digital sound different, and unfortunately decks do...

Vinyl sales much ado about nothing?

People have not forgotten, but if you think CD sound is not compressed are you mixing data compression with dynamic range compression. A lot of CDs suffer the latter.,

Buy RP1, RP3, or RP6 considering plans to upgrade

I have messed around with P2, P3, P25. Messed around includes sub platters from the states, acrylic platters, techno weights, I would suggest you either get a P3 outboard psu and leave well alone, other than a aftermarket subplatter the other bits change the sound a bit, improve the sound is a...

    which turntable should i get

I would go with the PL12D, it was a well thought of entry level to proper hi-fi decks, rather than entry level. It has a decent arm, and being totally manual in operation has less to go wrong. I would try and see it working, fit a new drive belt, clean out the bearing well and replace the oil...

returning to LPs. Newbie turnable and amp questions.

I am pleased you are enjoying it. Vinyl replay is certainley one area of hi fi where spending more gives better results. Electronics, and digital can be done well on a tight budget, but vinyl replay still needs engineering, which unfortunatley has to be paid for.

    180g vs Standard Pressings.

the change in sound is as much down to mastering as it is to vinyl weight, I have a number of 70's original albums, that I have duplicated with modern remastered versions. While not in all cases, but in the majority, I prefer the original wafer thin vinyl edition. It could be because I am used...

returning to LPs. Newbie turnable and amp questions.

Get the best turntable you can justify, (or best over budget), you will not regret it. As you have a amp and speakers, why not look a little up market, something in the Rega 3 or equivalent Project. Your ears and your vinyl will thank you long term

What new turntable? An Analogue Works TT1!

No, I use a P9-apheta-ios. I had a DV20 on a P25- and transfered it to the P9 when I changed deck, I thought the DV20 was a very well blanaced cart, and thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. The RP6 with its 303 arm will let the dyna sing. It for me is a well balanced combination, with the Rega's...

What new turntable? An Analogue Works TT1!

    I would go RP6 with a DV20 2XL

    Contemplating Valve power

I would add the puresound range into the mix. The A30 is a much nicer sounding amp than some reviews would have you think.

    RP6 Cartridge

I have used carts up to a dyna 17d3 on p3 and P25, so with the new rega arms I would not worry about overkill below £1k new.

    Upgrade Cartridge or Phono Stage?

Forget changing the cable, unless it has some gross anomoly, it is not going to change a dull cart to bright. I would suggest you ensure the goldring is set up properly, and tracking at the best vtf for your system. If it still sounds dull, then I would suggest that you have a preferance for the...

    RP6 Cartridge

I would go with the RP3, and a denon dl110, or if you have the possibility of using a low output coil a denon dl 301

Spendor A6r and D7, anyone heard these?

I thought the A6r was a speaker that you could live with for a long time, the D7 has more instant showroom appeal, not so sure about long term.
