Bowers & Wilkins takes its best to new heights with revamped 800 Series Diamond range

Seems like this is a smaller step than the upgrade from D2 to D3, but I'm curious to see just how much better the D4 range actually sounds with all these little upgrades. Seeing the price hike, I definitely don't regret purchasing 805 D3 at just over half the cost of the new 805 D4 though.

The tweeter looks completely different to the Formation Duo, let alone that it's not available in glossy black. Could be a new high-end formation speaker of course.

This is absolutely not the D3, it doesn't even look close to it. The top of the 804 D3 is curved, not flat, and the speaker itself isn't nearly that round.

Would a Rega Planar 3 and CXA61 sound better than CDs?

Just wanted to give the OP some input, not sure why you felt the need to react so aggressively.

Would a Rega Planar 3 and CXA61 sound better than CDs?

If it's any help, I'm using a Rega Planar 3 with an Elys 2 cartridge and in my opinion this is a great sounding combination – I'm surprised again and again just how much punch and treble can be in a well mastered LP when listening to it on that system. Can't comment on the MP110 though, never...

First picture of Bowers & Wilkins Series 800 D4

Did B&W just share the very first image of the Series 800 D4 or could this be a different speaker? It's certainly not one from the current 800 D3 or 700 D2 range, and it doesn't look like a car speaker system either.

Best upgrade path from a Bluesound Powernode 2i

I went with the NAD M10. To be honest, one of the main reasons was that I already knew just how well the streamer in the M10 would work, considering the Powernode 2i uses basically the same software. Using it for a few months, I think it sounds pretty good – songs which I previously found a...

Best upgrade path from a Bluesound Powernode 2i

Just a short Update: I got an amazing deal on a NAD M10, and since I don't have any option to listen to it anyway, I just bought it, because I'm pretty sure I could sell it without losing much money. I'm listening to it pretty much nonstop since Monday, and I have to say it's a pretty nice...

Best upgrade path from a Bluesound Powernode 2i

I just got a confirmation for a listening session for the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 and the TDAI-2170, though it's sometimes in May because the dealer will only receive the TDAI-1120 in a few weeks since it doesn't seem to be on sale yet. I'll bring my own Powernode 2i to have a direct comparison, and...

Best upgrade path from a Bluesound Powernode 2i

Thanks for the write-up Musicraft! For some odd reason I didn‘t even know about the existence of the Lyngdorf TDAI series, which I consider pretty shocking after doing a lot of research on the NAD M10 and alternatives to it. On paper it looks kina similar to the NAD offerings too – both are all...

    B&W PX5

B&W headphones were pretty hit and miss for me. I didn‘t try the PX series yet, but if the PX5 sound anything like the older P5, I can see where you‘re coming from. The P7 Wireless did sound great to me though, so I‘d be curious to compare the PX5 and PX7 to them.

All-in-One Systems equal now to cheaper Hi Fi sets

There are certainly great systems out there like the NAD Masters series or the Naim Uniti series. To me it‘s kinda similar to buying an iMac though – once the computer (i.e. Streamer in the amp) is outdated, you basically have to throw the whole thing away. With amps that should at least take a...

    Speakers and pre amps

When you‘re just looking at active speakers with a built-in phono stage, you limit yourself to very few decent options though. Are passive speakers coupled with an integrated amp an option? What‘s your budget, room size and music you listen to?

Best upgrade path from a Bluesound Powernode 2i

I'm not sure what I'd get with the H190 over the H120 though? I don't need any more volume since the Powernode 2i with it's 60W is already plenty loud enough, and the amp itself seems to be almost identical except the power rating? The Peachtree nova300 looks interesting too, and the built-in...

Question Naim Uniti Atom - for Monitor Audio Gold 200?

Monitor Audio recommends amps from 80W – 200W, the Uniti Atom only delivers 40W per channel, which obviously is far below the recommendation. It might still sound fine, but maybe the Naim Uniti Nova or the Uniti Star might be better options? The NAD M10 also might be worth a try – it's even...
