    Mix & Match ?

Really, the only way to know for sure is to demo various components. Years ago when I had a crazy notion of using a power amp with my Arcam A65, I was looking at a power amp to boost sound and volume, the combo worked a treat in terms of synergy and power, but there wasn't much in a way of...

Most Alfas are pretty, but this goes above most others. I didn't particularly like the the look of the older GTV, it looked like it was styled on the Fiat 20v Coupe.

    What are you watching?

Currently watching an episode of Foyle's War on ITVX. It's still one of my favourite TV dramas.

    Room 101

Yeah, my daughter paid extra for a quicker driving test. If she passes it'll be cheaper as I won't have to double the journey time. Agree, though, it's a rip off.

    Speaker choice

Depends how you define bookshelf. Many small speakers (aren't designed for a shelf) work best on dedicated stands, so try and budget for stands as well if you go standmount. Floorstanders, because of their comparative size, give out bigger bass and deeper lower frequencies. I've owned both and...

I was chocked off F1 as it became too predictable, unlike the 1980s & 90s when they had V12 and V10 with turbos. Quite often the turbos used to blow themselves up. I'm starting to enjoy it more now.

I don't know of a Japanese car that isn't reliable, Doug. Not sure where the reputation comes from. As my daughter said, and she's driven it a few times, the basic Civic, as this one is, is a typical school run car or a mum's car.

Great for yobs. I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. Most of the Type R have been thrashed.

A couple of days ago, I drove my daughter's friends 2002 Honda Civic 1.6. Dreadful car. Trying to steer this thing I'm like a hamster on a wheel, my hands are going 20 to the dozen. I haven't driven a Honda in decades, the previous one was a Prelude VTR, low-slung two seater. This Civic is a...
