I've partly resolved this by swapping which HDMI ports on the TV I use. But now the receiver always switches on and off with the TV box. Not quite what I wanted to do but at least I now have sound!

Have you tried looking on EBay for something local that you could utilise the legs from? TV stands similar to this come up for pocket money.
