    Which DAC ?

Matrix Audio X-SABRE Pro MQA: Best Audio DAC in the World? I don't know if I'd go that far, but I'm absolutely lovin' mine. Add a Bluesound NODE N130 with USB out fed into the Matrix and you can decode MQA-CDs. Probably a combination that's hard to beat.

Best CD players 2019: CD players for every budget

I've eliminated the ones beyond my budget, and I've selected the ones with the features I need. I'd be interested in your preferences. Is the best at the top, or is the list somehow weighted according to purchase price? If it is how do I remove the weighting? I'd hope the best was No. 1, so the...

    Denon AVC-X3700H

An interesting review. Verdict: Wonderfully clear and detailed Dynamic and engaging We would also suggest finding a dedicated stereo amp for your music playback. That suggests the pre/pro component is highly regarded. I have monoblocks for all channels and I am looking to update my Denon...

How to get the best sound from your CD player

My CD player has both Optical and Coaxial outputs as well as the usual RCA analogue. I've found Coaxial to be superior to Optical. My receiver's CD inputs are Optical and HDMI (plus analogue). I'm not even bothering with DAC's as I feed the Coaxial output into the HDMI port and it sounds great...

9 hi-fi tricks you might not believe affect sound quality (but they do)

The idea is to stop any mains noise in its tracks before it gets to the equipment so that the mains frequency is as clean and pure as possible. The so called quality of the internal power supply is irrelevant. They all have transformers that drop the AC voltage and it needs to be converted to...

9 hi-fi tricks you might not believe affect sound quality (but they do)

Yeah, it does have an excellent power supply that can be driven hard. The point is you want to stop any mains noise from entering your equipment's case. A good example is your turntable. If it uses a mains supply, try a regulated external DC supply and the difference is immediate - garbage...

9 hi-fi tricks you might not believe affect sound quality (but they do)

Some of these ideas are close to the mark, but probably not as presented. So here's my take on what's worth considering. I use a CD such as IsoTek's for a full system burn-in and demag, plus a weekly tuneup. A power supply that generates a fixed voltage and isolates mains noise is well worth...
