New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Great afternoon yesterday spent listening to some great record players! I ended up going with the Clearaudio Performance DC as it just sounded so much more detailed and open, with a lot more drive than the Gyro and techno arm. I think the Gyro would be great with a decent arm (think SME IV) but...

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Thanks Steve and Al, Not sure who has any in stock to listen to but gonna try and sort a cheeky demo on Friday if I can. Alas, I won't be spinning any records until the arm comes back from repair but will let you know how it goes, as and when it goes! Thanks again for all your input!

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Hey Steve, Well I must admit, I didn't realise they are were within budget which is especially true if my current arm is good enough! Having had mine in bits, set up, stripped down, soldered and rebuilt, I am certainly not put off with setting a tt up. The Gyros are beautifully engineered and...

    Naim question

Indeed, I'd be happy with the non dr for the time being, then upgrade when funds allow. Having heard the differences myself, I would probably sell a limb to fund the dr work! Come to think of it, I heard those Naps running off a 272. That would be a cracking system with the Twenty 24s...

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Thanks again, good advice. Where have you seen the discounted Gyros if you don't mind me asking? Edit: Just found one with about 300 quid off

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Old in the context that it needs some sort of motor or platter repair and I have lost a little confidence in it. I bought it 2nd hand so I don't know what kind of life it had prior to me hence wanting to upgrade. I would like the new tt to last for a good few years and to be of good enough...

    Naim question

+1 on the 2nd hand 250, there is a big difference between that and the 200. The 250dr is an improvement again!

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Thanks gents. Sticking with MM carts is certainly on the agenda for now, what I want is an extremely well made turntable that I can build on. Not sure that Inspire will really offer me that hence looking at other more well known brands. The Clearaudio would be the most straight forward upgrade...

New TT - help in shortlisting/building required

Hi all, Had some trouble with the TT of late so thought I would invest in a 2M Black cartridge and a new Naim Stageline as my old Linn cart was starting to sound a bit rough. Then the external tonearm wiring decided to die so its been shipped off to Audio Origami for a rewire so the Stageline...

    Rega Elex-R, Elicit-R or what?

I suspect you are right that the RX3s were holding things back somewhat. I heard them a while ago when I was upgrading my speakers and I found them lacking scale and detail. They left me feeling pretty cold actually! I recently heard the Elicit R and the Naim XS2 and found them to be rather...

    Should be receiving a CDP...

I like Leema stuff and had a Leema dac for a long time until moving to Naim so not knocking the amp at all. Just suggesting the amp MAY be holding you back

    Should be receiving a CDP...

Maybe it is your amp that is masking the true potential of the Electro CDP...I know you are very attached to the Leema but I my money would be on an amp upgrade rather then fettling with CDPs

    advice on closed in floorstanders

Check out ATC SCM40s. Amazing speakers and work well close-ish to a wall as they are sealed. I've not heard the with your amp but the monoblocks should have plenty of power. As with all recommendations, home demo is essential!

No real hifi is without a streaming service

Big fan of streaming, really got into it when Qobuz became a decent contender, although I am now a Tidal convert after acquiring a dedicated Naim streamer with inbuilt Tidal functionality. I still won't be without vinyl despite the convenience streaming from the likes of Tidal or from my NAS...
