    Abrahamsen... electro

Hi, In my opinion is a good amplifier. Not necessarily as good as other amplifiers two, three or even four times the price as it was mentioned here st the time ;) but very good. it works well in my system, room at low-medium volumes and with my music taste. I bought it directly from them and...

Sorry now looking for a good streamer

Hi BS, A little computer (I use a fanless NUC with a ssd HD) will allow you to listen to audio and watch video. I use JRiver although there are other options. You need external storage (Best a NAS although external HDD would suffice), computer with software and external DAC. This way you have...

    Streamer ideas

Hi, As mentioned before what to choose depends of what you want, how much effort you want to put into it and budget. if you want to stream just music: A NUC or apple mini with some software, a NAS or external HD and a DAC is an option. Other option is a streamer, NAS or external HD and DAC...

Wow ripping CDs into flac files is a upgrade of your music

Hi, In my experience in terms of capacity never enough is enough :) As mentioned before, the NAS will be set up in RAID1, 5 or 6? I think so you will not get the full capacity of the HDD installed. So bear that in mind. There is normally a sweet spot in terms of HDD capacity; when I set up...

    Guys need your help

Hi, Nuc here. Most cost effective and flexible solution from my point of view if you are interested in video and music. Running JRiver and I cannot complain about the sound. And it’s future proof. Regsrds, O

Streamer vs Airport Express and a good DAC for wired network

Hi, I have the Nas connected to a Nuc and this to the Dac. I run JRiver on the Nuc and I control it from the phone and or tablet. I think it's a flexible system in terms of files I can reproduce (audio formats, video, pictures) and also future proof as I can change the Dac and ir Nuc if...

    Leaving my Chorus 806v

Hi, I am happy with my Focal and Abrahamsen. I listen mainly to jazz and classical music. You should be able to find some information about that amp on this forum. I believe you should get it delivered for less than 1000 euros. And if in the future you decide to change your speakers, you...

marantz pm8005 upgrade to abrahamsen 2up

Hi, I don't hear anything under 20. Too low until 27. Ok for background music at 30. 35 it's fine most of the time. At 40 I start to feel guilty for my neighbors and at 45 for my hearing;) On jriver I use internal volume set at 100% so 64bit and "all volume" dictated by the amp. Regards, O

marantz pm8005 upgrade to abrahamsen 2up

Hi, Thanks Electro. Yes I appreciate my speakers are fairly efficient. I somehow was thinking loud :) because I find myself listening more and more often at low volumes, under 35, nowadays and I was surprised he was turning up the volume so much. No ulterior motive or anything like that...

marantz pm8005 upgrade to abrahamsen 2up

I find interesting how loud you turn up the volume. I normally "cannot" go louder than 35.

    NAS based streaming advice

Hi, Remember to backup the files you have in the Nas. I don't know if it's your case but people tend to believe that the Nas files are backup. Regards, O
