That’s the part I don’t quite get. How to access the higher resolution layer. I’m sure I read that some of these were created to hold several CDs worth on one disc, like a super long-player. Have you seen those, or was imagining it?
Following with interest. I’d assumed Audio meant audio only, and the extra capacity is used for multi-channel mixes. As these are of no interest to me, I’ve not bought any, but I am intrigued. Like Al, I have an Oppo that would probably play them.
If you’re anywhere near Anstruther, Fife, then there’s a great dealer there called Elite Audio. They do tend to be luxury priced but they have a great selection of used gear, so might be worth considering.
Or down to Carlisle to see Peter Tyson?
A square room isn’t ideal for sound, but as long as you have room to experiment with speaker placement you should find a compromise.
Smaller floorstanding speakers take up the same space as a stand mount on a stand. Do you want to include ‘streaming’ as well as playing your collection of LPs...
I get these too, and they are usually worth a read. Obviously this topic shows their kit in a good light, but they skate over the masking aspect, which I’ve read before is highly relevant in practice. Obviously I don’t have the tools to prove that, but I find it plausible.

It has a 5* review in Hifi Choice. Apparently it’s derived from a form of tape they previously released that you wrap around wires or summat!
Sounds like foo to me, unless you’ve got badly designed kit or a very compromised layout - e.g. stacking items that should have a dedicated shelf.
As you *must* keep that desktop placement you are severely limited with decent speakers. Otherwise I’d have said get the floorstanding Iotas, especially now they seem to be phasing them out.
The only alternative I can think of that is designed for close wall placement is the Epos...
Paul Rigby did an in-depth review and published a trusted ‘recipe’ for cleaning fluid that you may have seen.

I always thought that any older LP might well have crud in the grooves, but most of mine were bought when first released...
If we are lucky, someone might have tried these. I haven’t, but I did enjoy an afternoon listening to Ortofon’s range cartridges a few years ago, ending with their then top MC retailing at about three grand.
In an interval. I realised there was scarcely a tick or pop heard, so I looked...
Super! It’s taken me a while to appreciate Sibelius symphonies, though I always loved the tone poems. I’ve enjoyed Klaus Makela with the Oslo Philharmonic, on Decca recently. 🙂
