I don't even get 5.1 audio with Disney+ on the 4k Fire TV box (2nd gen) which is higher spec. Hardware is perfectly capable of 5.1 on Prime Video, so I suspect it's a simple software issue and Disney's responsibility to fix.

I'm not even getting 5.1 sound - no matter what settings I try I only get stereo on Disney+ via my Amazon Fire TV box (gen 2 4k). Amazon Prime Video comes through fine in Dolby Digital Plus with the same kit. Any ideas?

Sounds like what my VSX-922 does with my blu-ray player. Is it displaying "PCM"? That means that the audio decoding is being done by the xbox and fed to the AV receiver already decoded into Dolby or DTS. If you want your receiver to do the decoding instead, you will probably have to change a...
