Spotify connect to my hifi via Android

Chebby's right about the two Arcam products. As my Supernait already has a decent dac I bought an rBlink, and it works a treat streaming Spotify from my Samsung Note 8 tablet. Another advantage is that the Samsung supports Bluetooth APT-X (unlike Apple) to give you improved streaming quality.

What classical music are you listening to?

Currently listening to the new Walton 1 on Chandos with Gardner and the BBC SO - superb, and definitely worthy to be put up there with Previn, I reckon. About to try the coupled Violin Concerto with Tasmin Little. Anyone heard anything of the new Dvorak Symphonies set with the Czech PO and...

What classical music are you listening to?

Agreed - I love Previn too. Haven't heard the Davis - must give it a go sometime. And then there's Hickox, of course - the "London" 'Director's Cut' was a revelation!

What classical music are you listening to?

Vaughan Williams has to be one of my favourite composers. I grew up with the EMI Boult set and love it still. I also have Haitink, who really makes you think about different ways the symphonies can be interpreted (and that opening of the Sea Symphony just takes your breath away!). However, as in...

What classical music are you listening to?

I must check out Gulda; must admit, one of the highlights of my listening last year was working through the entire Paul Lewis set on HM - maybe not to everybody's taste, but I find them absolutely captivating, and extremely well-recorded. Currently enjoying the new Prokofiev Piano Concertos...

Sad news regarding a fellow forum poster.

As with True Blue, I've not posted for a while but I follow the forum regularly. However, just returned from hols to this so sad news. Chris always seemed such a gent, and never got drawn into the, erm, sillier threads that can pop up from time to time - plus he was a fellow drummer. *biggrin*...

    Connecting Blu-ray to Supernait

Thanks! Yes, I realised about the PCM 2-channel output. I might just go for a straightforward phono connection to keep things simple. I assume I just then mute the soundbar or do I need to select the output on the Blu-ray player in each case, depending on which system I want to listen to?

    Connecting Blu-ray to Supernait

I watch all movie and TV content through my Yamaha YSP-2200, so my Panasonic Blu-ray is connected via HDMI into the back of the soundbar, which is generally excellent. However, for the occasional music programme I'd prefer to listen via my hi-fi amp and speakers. Can I confirm that the best way...

Sir John Tavener dies at 69

I remember the powerful effect "The Whale" had on me in my teens, and I've been lucky enough to sing a few of his works in the past. A singular voice that really knew how to communicate with deceptively simple means, and who wrote simply some of the most beautiful music of our times. If you want...

    Neat Elite SX

Let us know how you get on, eltee00 - I have Elite SX's with my Supernait, and it's a superb combination across a whole range of repertoire. I think you'll love them.

    Sony vs Samsung LCD

I have the 40" version of the Sony, and I can absolutely echo the other positive views here. As Oldboy says, it's not perfect (the plinth is a pain, tbh, but see the "stand nightmare" thread), but no TV is, and although you need to do a fair bit of tweaking, there's a wealth of advice on getting...

    Sony 55HX853 Stand Nightmare

...and stand is now ordered and paid for! Thanks for everybody's help with this - I'll get a photo up when the BLOK arrives and I've finished the big move around.
