    Arcam MiniBlink connection problem

Hey guys, My name is Nathan. I'm back on the forum hoping to get some help. As the title says, i'm having connection issues with my Arcam MiniBlink. As of this moment, i'm already on my fourth MiniBlink. The problem i'm having is as follows. I can connect to the miniblink with my macbook or...

Switching from solid to tube amp

Actually that's a pretty good idea. I told him i would probably come by next week to audit his Linn system in the shop. I'll ask him about the DAC. A substantial upgrade over my pc is what i'm looking for but as you've pointed out, i'm not eager to spend 400€ on a DAC. Just something basic with...

Switching from solid to tube amp

Hi DocG, I just came back from Radiyole. Rudy cleaned up my amp and said it looked really well. He thinks i would have to spend about 2000€ to get something better. So i'm going to keep it for now untill my budget stretches big time! What i will be looking for is a decent DAC. A lot of my music...

Switching from solid to tube amp

That would've been too much of a coincidence indeed! I'm going to get my Sony checked out and maybe email the seller of the peachtree and check it out. I'll definitely ask about it when I visit Radiyole!

Switching from solid to tube amp

Hi DocG, nice to meet you! As Cno pointed out it might be a good thing to get the Sony amp checked. I already bought my Pro-Ject turntable at Radiyole so maybe they would help me out to see if it still works as it should. And in case it would need servicing, if it is really worth it or it would...

Switching from solid to tube amp

I'm from Ghent in East-Flanders! First and foremost the amp should match my music style (and speakers). If solid is the way for me, so be it. I'm just a sucker for the looks and heard good things about the sound. I also like to listen to vinyl records not that i'm a purised (although the sound...

Switching from solid to tube amp

Wow, i must say i never expected so much response! Thanks everyone, i'll try to answer most questions and narrow what i'm looking for. I live in Belgium and i've never as much as seen a valve amp around here. I would probably buy from the UK. Maybe also not unimportant is the genre of music i...

Switching from solid to tube amp

Hi guys, I currently own a pair of Tannoy DC6T speakers. I love them and they suit my music style very nicely. At the moment i'm using a pretty old amp from Sony (TA-FA5ES gold). I'm moving soon and was thinking to maybe look into buying a new amp because the sony has seen better days. I don't...

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

@davedotco Yes, I just use the headphone socket with a RCA cable in the AUX connection on my amp. The odac is just the thing I'm looking for in size. Can you clearly hear difference when you use something like that or just when you pay very close attention? I don't want to go and spend money...

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

So I got my speakers yesterday, got them in position and started testing. They're really amazing, i love the sound. The bass is clear, the stereo image is amazing... I'm very happy! They have yet to break in so thinks will probably only get better over time. I also ordered some new cable (van...

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

I believe that what you say is certainly true but it's still a big step up from my old setup, which makes me very happy! I ordered the tannoys, can't wait to test them! A little off topic maybe but does anyone know something more about my amp? It's an old sony TA-FA5ES (champagne color). I...

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

I'm pretty shure I'm gonna go for the DC6T's. I keep reading good things about them and even the brand in general gets almost exclusively 4 or 5 star ratings on the site. Can't go wrong with these speakers :) thanks everyone, this has been realy helpfull!

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

Had anyone heard both the Dc6t and the kef q500's? I can get a nice discount on the kef's but they look a bit old fashioned because of the english cherry finish.

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

It is :) I must say the Tannoys have a cleaner design. In my opinion this is also somewhat important. If your planning to keep the speakers for a long time a clean design is always welcome.

Decent floorstander set-up for under 700 (pair)

@Broner : Thanks for the info, i'm really glad I found the site! I think I'm going for the Tannoys Revolution DC6T or the Focal 714v. I can get both at almost the same price. Which ones would you guys recommend given my setup and music preferences?
