Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Sound too bright

It's still an opinion - I too have real instruments including a half decent piano, several guitars & been messing with hi-fi & electronics since I could walk well over 50 odd years ago, no I’m not a recording engineer but I do know what instruments sound like & played around a fair bit with...

Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Sound too bright

I would think the people who buy any speakers are going to have varying tastes including budget, I listen to a wide range of music as most people I know who buy separates, people who buy top of the range have varying tastes too - IMO cash in the bank usually dictates how much people spend on...

So I just purchased a chord silverplus usb cable..

I wouldn't call the DELL Workstations cheap, there are far worse - I've had dozens+ of desktop PC's I've fixed & or built & IMO the onboard sound chips are probably bettered by an external DAC & at some point they usually get connected to my cheapish 'DAC Destroyer' USB DAC - Frankly I've never...

Is my amplifier sufficient for Cerwin Vega xls 215s ?

As the 215's have similar sensitivity you will no doubt get the same volume levels as the speakers you have now - CV's have always been very sensitive & as you are going to get 95db with just 1 watt @ 1 metre they will go loud with very little power - However I would have thought to really open...

    Is it worth buying Atabites?

I bought a pair of Custom Design speaker stands last year used, that were mint & were already filled with Atabites, they also had Atacama gel pads on the top, I've always used Blu-Tac for years though but tried them first with the gel pads in place & after a few days decided to remove them &...

    Roksan K3 Looks impressive

Do Roksan make a DAC or a streamer? Seems to me they are soldiering on with the CD system, my Roksan K2 CD player was sold over a year ago & although I have still a Cyrus transport I can't remember the last time I used a CD apart from ripping & have never missed it - IMO they need a DAC/Streamer...

Chord Company interconnects with Marantz PM6005

It's not difficult if you have a friend who can swap cables/hardware without you knowing its not overly scientific but it does work & you really have no idea which one is in use - if you notice difference between sessions then go for the sound you prefer, works rather well esp. if you have a...

    Roksan K3 Looks impressive

Can't understand why any manufacturer bringing a new range of Amps out don't include an integrated DAC the cost is minimal.

    ripping software

IMO DB Power Amp is worth every penny, I also bought the Perfect Tunes add-ons too which I find useful for artwork etc. & convert to MP3 for use on my phone etc. - Both the ripper & converters can be had for free but when you are ripping 100's of albums DB does it well & smoothly.

Laying bookshelf speakers on their side

In the late 60's when Goodmans made decent speakers the badge on the grille was rotatable specially to allow the speaker (Mezzo for example) to be horizontal or vertical, not that it matters though *biggrin*

    New, less bassy speaker recommendations

The one thing about speaker stands is if you get a decent pair they will last a lifetime, I don't think it's necessarily a money saving route to use stand mounts & the footprint is the same but our preferences as to what we like to hear comes from: I can only wonder - Both my sons have...
