I got an offer for a Denon AVR-X2300W 7.2 for £100, is it worth buying for this price? Will it output HDR?
I want to have HDR in my HTPC. My current AVR Yamaha RX-V377 cannot output HDR via HDMI passthrough.
Basically what the title says. Is that right? sounds like a noob question because it is. I've only known of HDMI splitters and only the cheap ones, haven't had any experience with something more high tech so forgive the ignorance.
I want the pc to output HDR video because it cannot be done...
Do you feel it would be good to use for TV shows/films? mostly without a subwoofer, I use it when I watch films my wife doesn't want to watch but when we all watch stuff I'll have the sub off so looking for something that would work in relatively small-ish room without a sub for most of the...
I'm mostly interested in using it for films/tv shows and music will be rare I believe given the use. Do you think I need a different/better amp to the RX-V377 I have now?
I mean I am looking for another newer style receiver that can do HDR too so if you got any recommendations I'm all ears
Fellow KEF enthusiasts
I'm not an audiophile per se but I used to own some Gale speakers like lots of people did back in the 00s when they used to buy them from richer sounds etc. I then saw an advert for the Coda 7 SE and my hifi mentor at the time told me that I would love the sound of those...
I connected via HDMI just to test it and I get the exact same.. I tried to configure via Windows directly to produce 5.1 sound, not messing with Potplayer or anything. So this is HDMI from PC to AVR, HDMI from AVR via ARC to TV. I used HDMI 4, I select HDMI 4 and then I go to Windows - Sounds...
I've connected an optical SPDIF cable from Soundblaster Audigy to the optical port of the Yamaha RX-V377 receiver. I've setup the audio settings or so I think correctly in Potplayer to play 5.1 sound and I downloaded a test 5.1 AAC mp4 file. I get correct sound from front left, right and centre...
I use a Yamaha RX-V377 and previously a Yamaha AX-396, not really sure if that constitutes forward sounding or lovely :(
Unfortunately I don't have that experience..
B&W 685 S1 vs Elac Debut B5.2 vs Q Acoustics 3020i probably 2nd hand for a budget of £150 - other suggestions welcome
I can get them at that kind of price pretty much on ebay 2nd hand
I'm looking for some front speakers for my HTPC setup and Ive got a budget of about £150 to spend so I'm...
So you're saying to stay away from B&W? I will be able to see them and test before I get them.
What's your view on Elac Debut B5.2?
I've started looking into them and they seem a very interesting proposition.
I have the YAMAHA RX-V377 (previously owned the AX-396 which did ok with the KEFs). I think I have tried B&W DM601 S2s with the AX-396 many many years ago but I just remember they sounded good.
Thanks for letting me know about the 685s. I might take a punt at them. I'll get a chance to listen...
I can get them maybe for £130-150 but I haven't listened to them at all.
I know they were quite expensive when they first came out and the S2 version is better but I was wondering if anyone has experience with them. I like the sound of the DM601 S2 a lot not sure if they're similar or better...
What about this one?

Might be able to collect this one as I'll be in the area on Thursday.
Would that be good for films to complement the M15s? Not really interested in how it performs with music.
