The fact is that: very good active / passive systems can be had for well under a grand. Is it worth spending much more than this on a system?

I uses to have the Dalis' in my HC setup, lovely mid but swapped them out because of the almost complete lack of bass, and I'm not a bass head. They didn't project into my room as well. So went Replaced with the Tannoy Reveloution DC6 ..... Excellent passive speaker result

hey Lad, I wouldn't worry about mentioning AVI around here,they obviously make very good speakers and the op would be wise to include them in all his demoing. Surprised he doesn't get enough bass from the rx6's though

Hi fi for life ! yeah didnt quite work. Anyway my new Pre- amp, With four line inputs, Phono stage, USB , EQ, Balanced output Headphone out and the rest. Great value at £150 . Listening to the USB line in on headphones it sounds no better or worse than any USB DAC i've ever heard. Really...

Personally I think Ashley should be allowed to post on this forum, he is obviously very knowledgable and it would only serve to help answer questions people have on active designs. I mean how many times has Maxflinn been banned and returned. The AVI vs Passive is old news now and very boring...
