    Zone 2 pre outs?

Denon has pre-outs on the X3000 and better models, Pioneer has them on the new VSX-924 and on the old VSX-1123 and better models.

    Zone 2 pre outs?

You can, but it won't work as you expect: Zone 2 has its own volume control and source selection, indepentent from the main zone. So each time you adjust the volume or change the source, you will have to do it twice (for each zone). Another problem is that you won't have real surround anymore...

setup with multi-room speakers - confused

If all of your speaker cables had ended in 1 central location, you could have bought a receiver with 3 zones. Since this is not the case, the only option you have is to use Connect:AMPs; there isn't any viable alternative

Analogue audio path + video digital path = lip sync problems .... help!

Nah, the processor speed might make a small difference, but there will always be lipsync issues. Adding a component in an analog path will always have some effect on the signal, although I personally can't hear it. I'm afraid it's the only way to resolve your problem though... You could of...

Analogue audio path + video digital path = lip sync problems .... help!

Doesn't look like your BDP300 has a delay function. You could add one of these to the analog output: http://www.cypeurope.com/store/store/app/product/AU-D18/Lip-Sync-Corrector As for the "processing speed", what do you mean by that? Is this still regarding the delay problem you have? Basically...

Is there an alternative remote for the Ruark R4i?

Any learning remote will do. You can find very cheap ones and more expensive ones (like the Logitech Harmony, which can control about every IR device in your home).

    Pioneer SC-LX 57-K

The manual is actually pretty complete, but I agree it's not always easy to find what you need. The information you need is on page 45 of the manual (http://docs.pioneer.eu/Manuals/SC_LX57_K_ARB7505_manual/GetPDF.ashx). You can assign a HDMI, audio and component input to each source.

Pioneer to move away from AV altogether?

The main difference is in the amplifier of the receivers: the SC series have "Direct Energy HD amplifier", which are more efficient and permit the use of 4Ohm speakers (http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/tech/AVAmplifierReceiver/Discrete_Output_MOSFET.html).

    Ethernet cable for HDMI

Sure, cat6a is more than enough for this purpose: most products even work over cat5. The reason I suggested cat7 is to be future-proof if you want to use it for 4K or 8K in the future. The ones I used are these: http://www.marmitek.com/en/product-details/watch/av-over-cat5/megaview-80.php, but...

A discrete and well-integrated system for retirees

The hotel mode actually works really well. It's not a hack, it's just a hidden menu. I've used it a couple of times, and it works just as well as with other brands where it is available in the regular menu. You make a good point about the 5.1, although this isn't really important if you don't...

A discrete and well-integrated system for retirees

From the ones I have heard I would recommend a Sonos PlayBar or Canton DM50. Both are very good for music and dialog, have good bass withouth shaking the windows like you say and can be tuned with an equalizer. The Canton has more connection options and is more discreet, since it's a soundbase...

5.1 speaker suggestions under £500 please

Hi, I have no experience with 5.1 packages in that price range, but if you look at the reviews (http://www.whathifi.com/search/apachesolr_search/?filters=tid%3A383%20type%3Ahcmproduct%20fs_cck_field_price%3A%5B301%20TO%20500%5D&solrsort=created%20desc&retain-filters=1), it would seem that...

    Ethernet cable for HDMI

I've used this before and there are a lot of advantages: - You can use it for much longer distances than HDMI - It's much cheaper per meter than HDMI - You can use it for another purpose later if you decide to rearrange your house (telephone, internet) - It's (probably) more future-proof...

4 Ohms Speaker set, which AV Receiver?

Hi TnA, On the page you mention (http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/405/SC-LX77-S/specs.html), the 5th item in the list is "4Ω Speaker Support". As you can see, there is a checkmark showing the amp supports 4Ohm speakers (this is the case for all Pioneer SC receivers). It's true that...
