HiFi Live show 2017 end of day one.

Liked the Revels/Primare, the T&A/Stratus, PS Audio/Vandersteen a lot. But a lot of variation in the suitability of rooms and material spoiled some demonstrations. Not many visitors either and fewer exhibitors - e.g.no Naim, PMC

Jazz Record Requests Saturdays at 4 is a good place for new (to my ears) stuff. In the meantime: The Prophetic - Herbie Nichols Quiet Winter Night - Hoffman Emsemble New Bottles, Old Wine - Gil Evans Further Definitions - Benny Carter

Not cheap but definitely worth it - integrates your own library with Tidal or Quobuz (and Sonos) with a very good gui and a lot else besides.

    Tidal Masters

I'm currently considering getting an MQA dac or a new streamer (Meridian Explorer2 or Bluesound Node 2). It is rather annoyoing as only had Yamaha for 3 or so months. But once more albums are made available I won't hesitate to pull the trigger. The Explorer is only £129 from Audioaffair and...

    Even more upgrade help!

Although the Linn Majik is good I think having owned one it's overpriced. You could do better ripping your CDs to an Innuos Zen music server (or equivalent) and accessing music via the inbuilt Logitech player into a dac such as the M2Tech HiFace or Audioquest Dragonfly and then a usb amp - Quad...

Covers that are better than the original

Every Thursday morning on his excellent BBC Radio London programme, Robert Elms plays an original and a cover (selected by a listener) and invites preferences live or by email/twitter/facebook, before reaching a not very scientific decision on which is best.

If you could resurrect some piece of hifi technology from the past...

My dad had an electric gramophone (which only played 78s) with an enormous papier-mâché horn. The tone arm took Toblerone-shaped needles sharpened using a pair of scissors with a Toblerone-shaped hole for the purpose. Bring 'em back.

Burr Brown Raspberry Pi Network Player

As an Olympic standard electronic incompetent I'd be fascinated to know what the components were, where you got them and how you put them together.
