Special mains cables yes or no?

What kind of cables do you have under the floor/in the walls and how much did that cost per metre?

WHY Adele 25 IS NOT ON SPOTIFY ???

If you were Adele would you bother putting the album on spotify? She'll sell millions anyway, no benefit to her.

    Black Friday deals!!

I like Black Friday, I turn up when the fighting starts at ASDA, kick a few poor people then go home.

Do we make anything anymore ?

Cambridge Audio boasts 'Great British ound since 1968' and slaps Union flags all over the place. Very disingenuous. As for Arcam being like Cyrus - not even remotely close. Cyrus is owned by private UK individuals and makes its products in a UK factory . Arrcam is a foreign company in every...

Do we make anything anymore ?

Cyrus and Rega if you want UK made. There's a few speaker manufacturers too, Spendor and Harbeth amongst them but none at the lower end of the market so far as I'm aware. I always buy British-made where I can whether that's hi-fi, apples, clothing or anything else.

How old were you when you bought your first record player/turntable.

9! Locomotion by Kylie Minogue. There was something about the picture of her on the rear cover that drew me to it. I think my second record may have been I only want to be with you by Samantha Fox. Bit of a pattern there.

    Room Acoustics

Most people don't know they have a problem with the exception of maybe slap echo. They'll get used to the sound and tell themslves it sounds good and it probably does sound good compared to what they'd otherwise be listening to music on. It's only when you start measuring or experimenting with...

Best site to sell used Hi-fi

If selling on ebay I always offer people the opportunity to collect/demo - not many will of course but it shows you're more likely to be honest if you're open to people inspecting said goods. Also take a load of pictures of the item including when it's packaged up so I can demonstrate, if...

    New vinyl sound quality

Complete pot luck on new releases as said. I've got some that sound brilliant but several others that sound worse compared to my auditioning the album on spotify. I've also had a couple of new releases that could best be described as pringle-esque the warping is so bad.

Underwhelmed with set-up. Whats the weak link?

Too much 'sound' bouncing around in a small room. Bass decay times will be too long which makes everything else lack clarity. Try damping the room with duvets/cushions/pillows, etc. before you start hurling money at the problem. A small amount of bass trapping is likely to tidy things up.

    Dali

I got to hear the Epicon 2's in the what hi-fi test room last year. The sound stage depth was something else - seemed to go about six feet back and the bass about six inches from your face. Very, very nice sounding. Crazy amounts of detail coming too in voices. The folks from Dali were all very...

    Vinyl regret

I've found spotify versions sounding better than the vinyl a few times - laziness/poor pressing I guess. There are two versions of Californication. The original 1999 vinyl is supposed to be poor but a 2012 version is meant to be much better.

    Vinyl regret

I haven't heard the 180g version of Born to Die but I'd skip the regular version - sound quality not great. That is a problem with modern vinyl in general - sometimes it sounds like they just took the mp3 version and dumped it onto a record.

    An awakening

I think that's people who, for whatever reason, can't treat a room tell themselves it's really not that important and that moving speakers around is a perfect solution. I don't think I'll ever experience an upgrade the same as when I stuck a bass trap behind each speaker - I had no intention of...
