    Amp recommendations

I would say XS2 all the way! Previously, I was a bit of a Naim hater. Having demo'd many amps in the last 10 years (probably 15-20) I had written them off as being good but totally overpriced and overhyped. About 3 years ago I demo'd the Nait 5si comparing it to my Rotel RA03 I owned at the...

How does sound change with money

Ummm, generally the more you spend the better the equipment is but how well it matches with other components or suits you is another matter entirely. My setup for example (listed below) I originally started building around a Roksan Caspian M2 amplifier. I then bought the PMC 21's after having...

Suggestion for Amp for Pmc 22 speakers

I just got a set of PMC 21's and paired them with a Caspian M2, sounds great. Maybe better out there with your budget as the Caspian is £1900 now but I would say still worth a listen.

    What is my weakest link?

If you now want a proper stereo sound and not surround you may want to consider starting over, obviously depends on your budget etc. but a friend of mine recently went through the same system rethink and ended up selling it all and buying a pre-owned stereo amp and speakers and was far happier...

    Pioneer BDP-450

Yea, shame i'm so utterly annoyed by the time I get to actually watch anything it ruins the experience! They're not alone though, what is it with hi-fi/home cinema product manufacturers and remotes "remove 50 buttons, make the remote smaller, make the buttons that people use bigger" hardly...

    Pioneer BDP-450

Yes, updated the firmware and it did improve the performance of the box but unfortunately the main problem is with the rubbish remote. Why do manufacturers put so many buttons on the remote, this one must have nearly 100 (no joke) and i have maybe at a push used 10. The control is huge and...

    Pioneer BDP-450

Hi all... Just thought I would report on my purchase of the Pioneer BDP-450 I bought this model for all the connections I wanted to be able to use. Picture and sound it's fantastic, looks good, solidly built and has stacks of connections etc. Unfortunately, completely let down by the...

    Time for a new AMP

I agree with the power comment completely, I know some people get obsessed with it but personally I think one of the things that really let the 5si down in comparison to my RA-03 was that it is only 40w pc. Although I know it is technically enough to drive the PMC's, Quad 11L (my old speakers)...

    Time for a new AMP

Price wise I personally think all the Naim gear is slightly overpriced but they are able to do that after making so many great things and continue to do so. The XS2 for example, should probably be more like £1400-£1500 rrp instead of £1715 but it is still probably one of, if not the best...

    Time for a new AMP

The RA-04 is actually quite a good amp for £250 but don't presume the 04 is a bigger brother to the 03... The RA-03 was out years before and was £500+ new, the replacement is the RA-06 which from what I can gather is not up to the same standard as the RA-03 which was well regarded at the time...

    Time for a new AMP

Im upgrading my setup and just managed to snag a set of PMC Twenty 21's and I've now started looking for a suitable integrated amp to partner it. A while back I did demo the Nait 5si and found it to be a similar level to what I already have (Rotel RA-03) so I have been considering the XS2. What...
