Bi-amping Monitor Audio Bx2s when using Marantz MCR 603?

My advice is try it. I use the feature on my Kefs. You lose a bit of power but I found that it sounded better, don't expect anything radically different but I found it sounded a little softer and took some harshness off. The reason you lose power is because you are taking a 50w channel and...

All digital users need to hear this, JPLAY

Fairly sure that increasing the asio buffer would be a good idea for less cost to be honest. putting a -6db would surely not make it bit perfect... The benfit of is it that you would prevent clipping in the dac, but also lose some dynamic range... effectively this is the same as turning down...

    PC Speakers £100

Audioengine a2 is a safe bet if you want something small. No need for a separate amp. If budget was double i'd say go for the cheap spearate amp route but at £100 (or just over) you will struggle to get both.

Speaker War - Dali Zensor 1 or Q Acoustics 2020i?

Just to add to the mix Just picked up a pair of boston acoustics a26, they are bassier than my kef q100 (larger woofer) although quite a soft and smooth sound from what I can tell so far. Will be swapping between the two until I decide which ones to keep myself. but just thought I'd add to the...

    Marantz M-CR 603 with B&W 685

When you say bi-wiring are you using both output stages on the marantz or just running 2 sets from one stage? I wouldn't recommend the former to be honest as it just wastes power

To upsample or not to upsample? Any experiences?

I think the benefits of hi res are more practical than theoretical, i.e it is easier for a real DAC to accurately produce an analogue signal from hi-res data than low res. So by upsampling you give the DAC an easier ride so to speak, although it probably won't be quite as good as a true hi-res...

Am i mad? I want to add an Audiolab 8200cd to a budget system

Cheaper alternative if you are looking for one http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1635206/art/harman-kardon/hd-990-cd-player.html

To upsample or not to upsample? Any experiences?

The majority of music is still on cd though . I think pro-ject have a DAC which is true 16/44.1 . http://box-designs.com/main.php?prod=dacboxsfl&cat=digital&lang=en looks like it can take the higher res stuff but I imagine it will probably downsample. Also regarding the hi-res stuff it's...

    Marantz M-CR603 + KEF Q100 - sensible setup?

Yes, you don't need to use the bi amp feature in order to bypass the the internal connections, however the guy that sold mine to me said he tried using some QED jumpers and he heard no difference over the internal wiring so could just be a load of faff for all I know. Bi amping affects the amp...

To upsample or not to upsample? Any experiences?

Yes and no, as there are no hard and fast rules! at a guess I would expect a software upsampler to be superior to a cheap hardware one, but really depends on the dac. Some DACs will take all your input and resample it to 96khz or 192khz for example, so if we resample in software then we avoid...

To upsample or not to upsample? Any experiences?

Lot of factors involved but it does make sense that upsampling can improve the sound. Nice thing about foobar is that you can resample on the fly if your processor is up to the task. Essentially giving you the option of bypassing the Dac's internal upsampler and potentially using a better one...

    Marantz M-CR603 + KEF Q100 - sensible setup?

The bi-amping does work, tried on my 502 and I think it makes a slight difference but subtle at most

    NAD C 390DD - WHF Review??

Well traditionally a class d amp requires an analogue signal, I think the point of this is that it uses the actual pcm signal to drive the switches so the amp is effectively the DAC. Sounds neat
