    Question Hifi Setup suggestions

I have a similar setup, and can tell you I have no regrets going with Kef, I did strongly consider monitor audio but decided to stick with kef Q (I got a set of Q550 for £550 new from amazon so that swung it. Denon AVRX3600 Tibo 2 channel Power Amp Panasonic dp-ub9000eb1 Kef Q650c, Pair Kef...

Denon AVR-X6800H vs AVC-X8500HA.....old dog, new price

Good Morning All, Looking for some input/any personal experience that might swing my decision one way or the other here, I really am stuck between a pillar and a post with this one. Current setup is 7.1.4, and would like to expand to 7.1.6, so looking at new AV Receiver options. (really would...

    M-DAC + 8200p

Best advice is to go and demo them. Sure you could find a hifi shop that stocks audiolab and dali. I can vouch for the MDac though, made a HUGE difference from my old upgraded dacmagic1. I have heard of some reliability issues with the 8200 cd player, needing to go back for FW repeatedly to...

this website jumping around makes me nervous

Just browsing and found this thread, thought people may like to know how I got round this rather annoying little feature. If one uses a certain web browser, the one with an icon of a bushy tailed creature (am i allowed to mention the name?) You can install add-ons that block adverts. This...

Looking for Advice on First Hifi System

@cw21 As you can see you will always get a wealth of differing opinions on forums, it is a good place to start but ultimately you need to go and audition a lot of kit. Hifi is a very personal thing, and I feel the only way you will know what YOU like is to suck it and see! Find some good hifi...

Dont take any risks with faulty electrical equiptment. If in doubt get it checked by a Professional. You dont want to end up with a spikey hair do, or worse!!!

    Have my speakers just blown?

So it is not the speaker, and if you tried another soundcard then unlikely it is pc related. Although you could try another source like an ipod or similar to confirm this is the case. Sounds very much like an issue with the sub, if you are lucky it is a faulty rca socket where the speaker...

Is this a good deal or just old gear?

Thats your best bet, independantly they are both good, whether they sound good together will be something your lugs will be able to decide. That rotel amp is a 5* winner, sure if the b&w's dont sound good enough they might have another pair that will :)

Is this a good deal or just old gear?

Rotel amp is worth £700 new, the speakers I believe were around £400 new Sounds like a good deal to me, but only your ears will know if they are for you, take in some of your music and audition them again. If the hairs stand up on the back of your neck you have a winner :)

    nad c370 smell

If you are not confident with this then its definately best left to someone who is, could be something on one of the hestsinks, a cable's insulation leaning against something, or a laundry list of other things, without seeing if first hand it is very difficult to diagnose.

    Have my speakers just blown?

Can you swap the left and right speakers to try and find out if the speaker is faulty, i gather these are powered but do the have independant connectors? Swapping the speakers over should narrow it down a bit. Or try a set of headphones in each of the audio ports and see if cranking the...

The benefits of using a Power Amp

Apologies for hyjacking your thread, hope you dont mind me jumping in :) So is it the case that the result of such an upgrade will very much depend on the type of speaker system used? A smaller 2 way for example is unlikely to benefit as it does not have as much of a power requirement where as...

The benefits of using a Power Amp

I too was considering adding a power amp, and nearly bought a used 8200s yesterday (but after spending about £900 recently thought i better not!) Currently running ~ Marantz CD6005 + MAudio 410 Audio PC > Audiolab M-Dac > Audiolab 8000s > Audioquest FLX Slip 14/4 > Refurbished Kef 104/2's...
