    Roksan Caspian set questions

I used the M2 integrated with a M1 power amplifier to bi-amp my PMC Fbi1 Sign. Ed. The power amp made quite a difference imho, everything sounded more fluent, easier. And best of all, the M1 is a lot cheaper to find than the new M2 while the differences between them are minimal...

    KEF Reference 201/2 vs KEF R 900

Could a superuniti do respect to the 201/2? They sure look stunning...

Help ! Speaker advice for (mainly) rock, unto about £3k max

Interesting search! @Scaramanga: since you had both the FB1 and the Ref. 201/2, how would you compare these two? I have the FB1i Signature Edition but I just love the looks of the Ref. 201/2. I have a Naim SuperUniti, so I wonder if that could work...

What do YOU do with your CDs?

I rip them to my NAS, put them in "fleecepacks" (very very handy product, http://www.fleecepack.nl) and store them. I only use them to play in my car now...

    The thousand pound dac dilemma!

yes, I have the Essensio. North Star isn't much known but their cd-players and dac's are topnotch. Another brand that people are going crazy about in Holland is Metrum. Their Octave dac is said to be simply amazing (but I'm not very keen on hypes).

    The thousand pound dac dilemma!

If possible, you should audition the North Star Design Essensio (or the latest 'plus'-model): not very known but amazing stuff! Lots of details, very dynamic and transparant but with a nice low-end to it. And a lot of connection-possibilities (3x toslink, 2x coax, USB (up to 32bit/192kHz!))...

    Pre/Power or Integrated Amp?

I don't think there's a lot of difference between a pre/power combination and an integrated amp as such. Of course this depends on the amplifiers used... The biggest improvement imo is going bi-amp. Like I said, in my situation: the speakers receive twice the power and that affects not only the...

    Pre/Power or Integrated Amp?

@ANWKLO: PMC Fb1i Signature edition. @Roby: Sammy of Alpha only has a Kandy-amp. I bought my gear in holland, but I currently haven't got the time or budget to audition for a new amp (unless a great offer comes by).

    Pre/Power or Integrated Amp?

Did you compare the M1 and the M2 power amplifier? I haven't yet, there isn't a dealer in Belgium... I'm considering of getting a M2 and selling the M1... But I can't say it's a bad match now, by adding the M1 amplifier, the speakers receive twice the power and that affects not only the low...

    Pre/Power or Integrated Amp?

If you can use the PM7003 in a bi-amp setup with an additional power-amplifier, I would say that's the way you should go. I'm doing the same thing with a Roksan Caspian M2 integrated amp for the tweeters and a Caspian M1 poweramp for the low-end...

    Arcam rDac keeps cutting out

Have you checked the fuses of the dac already? I experienced the same problem with my North Star Design Essensio Dac. The fuses were fine, so I unplugged it for a couple of days (eg. more than a week), and now it works without any problem...

    CD/Amp upgrade path

I have a roksan caspian m2 cd player for sale on ebay. Maybe you can take a look? Player is aprox. 1 year old and in excellent condition, apart from a small scratch in the display but that is only visible from closeby and a certain angle... Bidding starts from €1000, shipping not included.

Should I add a DAC (mainly DacMagic) to SBTouch?

I'm quite active on a Duth hifi-forum, and over there the Metrum dacs (Quad and Octave) are quite a buzz.... I haven't heard them myself, but maybe it's worth a try... I use a North Star Essensio Dac with my Squeezebox touch, sounds great to me...

    Hello

Hi, I'm Nick. I'm from Belgium and I'm addicted to music and hifi. I cheated a bit, because this is actually my second post on this forum. In my first post, you can see my stereo-set (and that's what it's all about: the means to enjoy music)!
