Would the size of the room be a factor then? Ie a bigger room would need the same speaker to play louder for the same effect as that in a smaller room? Therefore you would need a more powerful amplifier in a larger room?

Maybe it's time to stop this conversation as each subsequent reply is out of context from the previous post which was a reply out of context from the previous one, and so on.... :)

The point being whether spending £5k on a pair of speakers is worth it if there's a good chance you won't hear them at their best due to the amplification.

Lots of different speakers here and at different prices too. Beware of the 'instant impact' effect, as PP has mentioned below, your room, music tastes, and listening habits all need to be taken into consideration. A less restrained. less transparent speaker (some would describe as dull by...
