is 3 seconds extra time between sources such an issue lol the spotify feature on the 610 over the 603 is what sold it to me, it sounds very very close to cd qaulity really it does, although it takes even longer to load, but once it has loaded spotify it all works well and finds your chosen...

i heard marantz gels very good with kef speakers, I do prefer the marantz sound over rotel, more liquid, however i dont think one is better than the other , just different presentations. both have similar toriod power units, the marantzs has a little more power on written specs,

the rotel is a nice amp too, I heard it being demoed in superfi in manchester to a customer, the source was some music server, the speakes MA BX5, it did sound,....to use use that cliche......musical, not immediatley thrilling though ,

Its regarding the 'audio out' sockets, what exactly are they for?, I assume to connect an external amp, but what about the pre amp stage, does this out put need to go direct into an external power amp for an upgrade path or is it required to be connected to a' line in' on a tradtional...

Loudness buttons really mess up the sound, whatever the level, I hate them, however using the normal tone controls can impove certain recording if used gently, ie just a couple of +dB boost, usually in the bass, that should suffice for low level listening .

Its definetly getting better sound per pound relative to the late 80's early ninties, take for example the exposure 1010 amp retailing now for about 450...ish ,that would mean it would have cost only £100 or less about that time. most amps that cost that cheap then were nasty grainy low...

On the contrary I dont understand why some people limit the performance of their expensive high end source and amp by sticking a pair of £150-200 bookshelf speakers on there, limiting the scale, depth and insight to their system. If they can afford a good system they can afford more appropriate...
