What single Upgrade will make the biggest difference to Sound Quality?

Some great equipment there. Hang on to all of it. Consider a good rack speaker/isolation platforms if you don’t already own. Think Townshend Audio here. Passive filtration for your mains. Fidelity Audio make some quality mains filters. (Made to order) all within your price bracket. One-off the...

12 of the best British CD players of all time

British audio should be proud of its history, it's industry and it's heritage. Today I still support it. Sadly though in my experience certain makes of British built cd playes, (and I have owned many) while having great design principles have proven to be generally unreliable. I, to a certain...

Is hi-fi really getting better? Our technical editor ponders its progression

I totally agree with you that cd sounds better than vinyl, which is incredibly overrated! And I grew up with it in the 60s & 70s! Cd replay has actually come along way since the early days---Denon for example, with their creditable Alpha Processing! DSP room correction has been the game...

This overrated hi-fi feature is an excellent concept poorly executed

I would say without fail the best peice of equipment I've ever purchased is my DSPEAKER X4 room correction processor. This also has full parametric eq built in with Q adjustment, tilt controls and many other features. Parametric eq works spectaculary well, and that's what I use to get the most...
