The Audiolab 8200Q is a good power amp. How about keeping it and trying a new pre-amp? Bryston, Primare and Music Fidelity all have great pre-s which might work well and would be cheaper.

Peter - welcome, The 8200Cd player is a fine machine - I have had one for 14 months and it has never failed to read or play a cd for me. I also believe it matches well with a wide variety of amps/speakers due to its relatively neutral tone and beautiful clarity. Well worth an audition. Good luck.

Hello, Rick, I've just returned from demoing the ATC19'S, Acoustic energy's REF1's and KEF's LS50's. Well the atc's and ref1's sounded o.k in their own way. But for me the Kef's just blew them away. They just sound SOoo! Right. I've had Atc 11's, listened too B&W PM1'S [very good], Proac...
