    CD vs vinyl playback

So power sub-stations are now spontaniously combusting, without a cause. So as every single newspaper, website, radio and TV channels are full of ****. This is just the first of many electrical (accidents) due over the next ten years. And it's all my fault. Time for bed.

    CD vs vinyl playback

No, I meant £4K, was the total cost of the TT all in. You know as well as everyone here, there is no way you can buy extras to embelish the SACD with new components, making it like a jigsaw, so we can all add, solder, or hammer percieved improvements into it. But, with todays tech, they CAN make...

    CD vs vinyl playback

SACD players can cost a similar amount to a good TT. (by good, I mean £4K) Imagine a TT with a remote! LP's cost as much as SACD's. But there is no comparison. But I will say, the jewel cases that enclose the discs are a disgrace, simply holding one, can destroy it. Imagine trying to roll...

    New plug on screened cable

I have same extention leads as you. I have one feeding the TV stuff, 5 of. And one plugged into the spare TV stuff socket feeding the HI-FI stuff. Meaning the HI-FI is recieving an extention, from an extention. Please be aware the national grid is undergoing serious modifying, there will be...

Weird that so many audiophile threads are argumentative

If everyone agreed with each other, We would not read it. We would sit and listen to our Amstrads, and watch the TV at the same time.

What is on your hi-fi wishlist?

What I really want, and what I am saving for are very different. I am saving for a Marantz 507Z , or a 509X ASAP. Will I then later sell it for twin Macintosh monoblocks and a valve pre-amp sometime later. (still undecided). There is no end to what I want. But I have a grip. It comes down...

    How Hot

Hi Paul, I used a NAD 320Bee for 18 years, and yes, both sides got worrigly hot, it never proved to be a problem. I did wonder how much electricity was needed to produce this amount of heat. I still have it, it's under the bed. all the best, IAN.

    What’s the next step?

As if they needed an alarm clock to plan an early robbery. This really screwed me up, waking up at 5 am checking my watch, and wondering should I stay awake, or pass out again. All I had was my clothes, and the bedding. I will not post what I lost, but it was dear to me.

    What’s the next step?

Take it easy, when I was in your position, some arsehole let bigger arseholes in to the digs. They broke into my room and carted off everything I owned. I had a radio/alarm, they took that too! I wish you well, take your time. Just don't spend all you have, on something you want to cherish. IAN.

Question Best record production for Hi-Fi tests

I know I am late again. I find it hard to describe my inner feelings. So I will try to tell you what happened. When I was saving for a new amp, I noticed a SACD for sale. It was offered at a good price. And just by instinct, I went for it. It is the MARANTZ SA-10. For me, it turned out to be a...

Weird that so many audiophile threads are argumentative

ToppingSMSL, Do you honestly believe All CD players sound the same? I recently purchased a replacement CD player and compared it with my 24 year old Cambridge Azur640C. There is no contest. All those years I thought I had a High-End player. But I was wrong. Now I believe I have a truly High-End...

Question Best record production for Hi-Fi tests

I rcently purchased a new CD player. The first album that went in was WOTW's, then Animals, then Richie Havens. One track brought a tear to my eye. Is this what OP was looking for? I too have the Daft Punk collection. Sorry I'm late. IAN.
