Sorry to dredge up an old thread. I think you're wrong about the Rotel. I have the RP1500 and it's definitely belt drive. I'm not saying it's a perfect turntable, but for the money you can pick them up for now I think it's great. Mine plays smoothly and rarely gives me any problems - sounds good...
