    Port bungs

Thanks for the replies. I have always thought of bungs as something you use as a last resort. It seems in reality that they can work very well in certain circumstances.

    Port bungs

Just out of curiosity, how often are people using bungs to get floorstanders closer to walls? I have always been of the opinion that speakers should be used as they have been designed. For that reason I almost never consider speakers with a rear port. Nevetheless, I just setup a secondary system...

    Tannoy Precision 6.2 review

Thank you for publishing the Precision 6.2 review, If I am not mistaken, the photo of the back is from the 6.4 which is a sealed box design with passive radiatiors. The 6.2's should have a port at the back. I would be very interested to read in your upcoming 6.4 review whether or not the 6.4...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

I am looking for something a little warmer. The SF venere line sound quite different from the Luito and even the Toy towers and I prefer the more classic SF sound. I am also not completely sold on how they would look in my space.

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

Thanks, I had a similar feeling with the 1.5 but they were really too small for the room which has high vaulted ceiliings. I am not considering the 2.5. When I have the time, I will demo some Opera speakers, the Seconda and Quinta and if they turn out to be too large, then there always is the...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

Hi csq, You mentioned that you were considering the Sonus Faber Venere 2.0. Did you go that direction in the end? regards

    2013 - new hifi products

If the price is correct which I am not sure about then it is quite a jump over the A-S2000. It just caught me by surprise that it would be more or less competing against an Accuphase E-260. Sticking to the meters theme, that is close to the price of the Onkyo M5000/3000 Power/Pre. I just did not...

    2013 - new hifi products

I heard that the Yamaha is going to be priced around €4500.00 which to me is astonishing.

    Tannoy Precision 6.4

Thanks for the suggestion. Finding the "W" series Focals might be difficult where I am but I will try.

    Tannoy Precision 6.4

Thanks very much for the feedback. Looks like they won't be a good match which is a pitty.

    Tannoy Precision 6.4

I would love to get some opinions about these from anyone who owns them or has demoed them. I noticed on the Tannoy website that these are not rear ported and that they specifically mention that this would allow them to work well closer to walls. I guess this is relative to the Precision 6.2...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

Thanks for your opinion on the speakers. I have not heard the venere 2.0 as they don't seem to be available anywhere close to me but will probably work very well if the 1.5's are anything to go by. I tested B&W CM1,CM5, PM1 and a standmount from Vienna Acoustics before testing the Sonus Faber...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

The 9000r is analytical in the sense that it is very revealing. Partnering with warm speakers would not be a bad idea. I like the combination with the Sonus Faber venere but those are not as warm as you might expect. I am still on the lookout for a warm floorstander that is not as large as the...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

I agree with csq2' s assesment of the sound. Partnering needs to be done with some care. I have a cd-player with tubes and that was the pefect match for the types of music I like to listen too when I want to really relax. For anything more upbeat, I prefer to run apple lossless straight to the...

Opinions on Onkyos A-9070 and 9000R Integrated Amps?

Ah Ok. My mistake for not understanding what that was. I am still not sure why you would need one but I will take a look and see what it does. I understand your problem with auditioning as I don't live in the UK either. I rely on finding free time on business trips but it is never ideal. regards
