Agreed, the Unitlite is the bare minimum you should be looking at, but you need to consider increasing your budget to a sensible amount. It more for listening to music rather than the HiFi. Well recomended. Sound quality is not Nait 3 standard, but close.

The raspberry pi is not difficult to set up, It could be done by a 10 year old. Giving up a Nait 3 and you will be in to some disappointment. I hope you find a solution on this forum.

Suggest servicing your Nait 3 with new capacitors. Sell the CD player and Airport Express and buy a Raspberry Pi2/3 loaded with volumio software and a Chord Mojo dac. You will have one amazing system. Don't foget to use NAC5 cables. Forget upgrade to the Nait 5 series as Naim has lost the plot...

I used a Maplin power supply costing £17 on my rdac and the differences are cleaner Bass and improved Voices. I would not pay silly money on one of those third party specialised power supplies or conditioners specifically for these dacs. Your better off getting an M-DAC off ebay for around £350.

Thank you I will go for the M-DAC. My next issue is what shall I replace my Nait 3 with. The 5 series is very much a side move and has lost a bit of the original Naim sound. I heard from some forums that a Recap Nait 3 with a HiCap sound better than a 5si. Any advice please. Rgds

The B&W 685 S2 are excellant speakers, however they are a bit bass light. I would go for a best dac you can afford, such as Chord Qute EX or HD for its bass quality and a serviced Naim Nait 3 to save money. Don't forget the NAC05 cable. The Nait 3 sounds as nearly as good as the 5si and you...
