At the risk of opening another can of worms, you might try upgrading the mains cable to your amplifier and see if that makes a tangible difference to the dynamics... This can be done DIY, as suggested for interconnects, depending on how confident you feel with electronics, but it's not rocket...

Interesting reading this thread. There is some good advice here. I would like to add that at 88db sensitivity, the 606 S2 are not especially hard to drive so pay attention to the comment about a clean sound rather than seek greater power. Unless you really intend to play these at ear strangling...
