I have noticed that some CDs. Generally some of the SACDs sound better than vinal. But it's not always the case.

I use them with my HiFi, and my wife does not hear them when I am listening with bluetooth switched on.

I too decided to leave it as a retirement project. But now I am retired it doesn't make much sense. As now I get more detail from prerecorded CDs. I suggest you get some CDs to replace the old LPs. And for your favourite album's get some Japanese pressings.

I have recentiy bought some Chord company rumour X speaker cables. The came out very well on the What Hifi 2020 tests. And they do sound very good. I just plugged the wires into the amp and the speakers. That's all I needed.

Have you had a reply from Arcam?

I'm having trouble with my Arcam CDS50. It wont update from a memory stick. I had this problem with the 1st one I had, so I got Richer Sounds to return it for a repair. But it was lost so they had to give me another one. But this one still has the same problem. Do any of you others out there...

You have been given a lot of good advice here. I will just add my own. When we come out of lockdown book some time at a hi fi shop, to listen to your chosen items. Take some of your favourite CDs. Then sit back and relax. Don't buy that day. Sit back overnight, and think about the best sound...

I have an Arcam SA20 that I have paired with Kef Q550s. Maybe you could think about a pair of KEF speakers. Just a thought.

The Arcam SA20 sounds more in the room, than other amps. The SA20 puts the sound there. Just have a listen to it. And compare.

A number of years ago I had some Grado headphones, and I love the detail in the sound that I got from them. But my wife could hear the sound too. Sadly I had to change the headphones to some that she couldn't hear. I now have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3s. She can't hear a thing.

I'm not sure. This question is a bit beyond me at the moment. I plug a digital lead into the Arcam CDS50, the Digital Out Coax. Then I plug the end of the lead into either the BD or AV input on the Arcam SA20. Then select that on the amp. The result is fantastic.

I bought this and I am very happy with the improvement in sound to my system.
