Price of 2nd hand HiFi equipment - You can no longer buy a HiFi for £99

You can easily find a basic system for £100. I've fallen into buying/selling hifi gear on eBay, been doing this for the past year and a bit. I source everything on Facebook marketplace. From recent experience you'd be able to sort out a basic cd system, eh Cambridge Audio A1 £30 Q Acoustics...

Question What is your best HiFi Bargain

All my ridiculous bargains have come from Facebook marketplace. My current setup is a Marantz CD5005 with an Onkyo A-9010 amp. Sounds excellent, cost me £60 for both. Picked up a Marantz CD63 KI for £100 last week, am deciding whether to use this as my main player (any thoughts, is this still...

    Cheap systems....

I find it bizarre that this thread is about 'cheap' systems and then people suggest dropping a grand on kit. The best bang for buck is 2nd hand. I've recently put together my first hifi in over 10 years and it sounds superb. I did get lucky with the prices it has to be said Onkyo A-9010 - £30...

    My budget setup

Yeah have considered, but I do love the TV stand I have. Another FB bargain, cost £40 and is teak (I think), weighs an absolute ton and is very well made

    My budget setup

So we moved into a bigger house last summer & I've always wanted a separate space where I can listen to music in peace, watch movies, fire the Xbox up etc. I initially setup my first projector but didn't get on with it all & switched to a 65" Sony LED which I'm delighted with. On the audio...

    Question Speaker choice?

Cheers for the response, but have settled in some speakers, see the post above

    Question Speaker choice?

Update: very early days, but the MA Bronze are slowly impressing me. Nowhere near as bright as I thought they might be, they look fantastic (the wife even mentioned this), and have played a couple of things that made me nod in approval. But it was listening to something that appeared in my...

    Question Speaker choice?

I've ended up taking a punt on the MA Bronze. Richer are doing a preposterous deal with some bundled extras I'll probably be able to flog on eBay for £180 odd, so they'll effectively cost me £140. We shall see!

    Question Speaker choice?

Oh also....I have knackered 52 year old ears, a lovely bit of tinnitus in one, so trying to get that 'detailed but not fatiguing' treble mix just right.

    Question Speaker choice?

Mounted on stands about a foot from the walls. Just found them very muddy in the midrange and weak treble, and this is with 3 different amps, PEQ correction.....tried everything. Have now a tally ordered one of the above speakers, will audition at home, it's the only way and I have 2 very...

    Question Speaker choice?

Auditioning in store is a waste of time, you can't get a proper sense of what they'll sound like. This is more a question of matching based on how easy the above speakers would be to drive?

    Question Speaker choice?

Hi all, first post, could do with some advice....been down a huge rabbit hole trying to get my budget system right, and have gradually started to educate myself about sensitivity and power as decent metrics. I currently have 2 amps, and would be interested in people's thoughts. I have Fosi...
