I have my Onkyo 616 upscale Sky HD to 1080p on my Samsung D8000 46". I find it takes some strain off the TV so less artefacts around motion. It's worth experimenting with.
Are you able to tell us what levels you have the backlight, contrast, brightness etc set at please?
Its worth noting that when these sets go into 3D mode they automaticallty turn the backlight right up to max to give a vivid image and overcome the slight tint of the 3D glasses. Easliy overcome...
I would imagine the LED brightness is too high. Try turning down to about 10. It will still be plenty bright enought.
Also ensure it is not in 'Dynamic' mode - designed to make it stand out in the showroom, but for too much for home viewing.
Good luck!
Its the MotionPlus that is causing you problems. When set to Standard, it is simply working too hard, and creates a very artifcial sensation of movement anyway. IT is prone to dropping frames in this mode too.
Set MOtionPLus to 'Clear' and you will find this a decent compromise. It will take...
I cant say much about 3 years. But replacing a 5 year old what was top-end 40" LCD with a new Samsung C8000 LED 46" job has a made a world of differnece. At last blacks are actuallt black. Detail - amazong. The whole WOW of watching TV has returned. Progress?? Definately - and for less cash!
Unless I am mistaken, the 2nd gen Apple TV outputs audio on 48khz rather than a non-messed-about-with 44.1kz so why worry about power cables?
Its little more than a toy.
Which I think is a shame.
I have this TV and the backlight is not uneven like this at all!! Just a very dim torchlight effect in the corners when viewed off centre.
But have to agree the backlight needs to be reduced to 10 or less anyway.
I agree Clare - I am the same I have no idea what the numbers are just go straight to the planner.
BUT!!
Now I am hunting around the HD tab to find terrestial HD channels some 2 or 3 pages down - its a complete pain!!
I have the Samsung 46C8000 and also had to switch the MotionPlus from 'Standard' to either 'Clear' or 'Smooth' - but I have noticed many artefacts often around moving faces which are quite destracting.
In 'Standard' mode everything feels like its floating. Almost like its in slow motion. It...
I'd read that local dimming can create 'grey boxes' around bright objects, so wasnt so convinved by this. The blacks look very good on the 7000 anyway (compared to my 5 year old Sony LCD anyway). Does the 8000 offer anything else other than local dimming over the 7000?
PS3, Apple TV etc does...
I cant seem to find a review on What HiFi of this particular model, and wondered if anyone has bought one, or got any thoughts on this as its has come top of the list for a 46" 3D TV for around £1400.
Or can alternatives can be suggested by anyone?
I think this new online service should be used as a free added value feature to the excellent postal film rental service. Not as the primary route to viewing films.
Having been a Love Film customer for around 18 months and seen numerous Blu Ray films for a fraction of the price of going to...
