    Outdoor home theater

Hello everyone! I have a client that wants me to design a space for an outdoor home theater in his backyard. The house is in a place with a bit of snow during winter time, the rest of the year is quite mild. I want to know what kind of equipment should be good for this kind of thing, what...

ProAc D18 (upgrade to Rega RS3)

Sonus Faber Venere 2.5 or 3.0, not sure, but they were big... Heard them several times, in diferent rooms and diferent places, with different sources and amplification and music and never once impressed me. Found them dull and wooly, too warm. Or they were just not for me.

ProAc D18 (upgrade to Rega RS3)

Was that a bad batch? Were they fully broken in? It seems odd that such a reputable company with such revered speaker offering you such a bad experience.

ProAc D18 (upgrade to Rega RS3)

I compared them with quite a few speakers, all the basic standard offerings in their price point and a few above, though not in my room... B&W, Wharfedale, Quad, etc. Monitor Audio RS6 did sound a bit more exciting but they were too big for me, and I can only imagine them being tiring after a...

ProAc D18 (upgrade to Rega RS3)

Thanks for the replies! My speakers stand about a feet from the wall and about 5 feet from each other and from each wall. I don't find them dull at all, they are quite musical speakers actually. My list was given based on what I can easily get around here, though most of them are hard to listen...

ProAc D18 (upgrade to Rega RS3)

Hi! There's a good deal for a pair of ProAc D18 around here. I have some Rega RS3. Would it be worth the upgrade? Has anyone compared them? Amp is a Brio-R for now, but will soon replace it with something better, Elicit-R, Exposure, Moon or Hegel... Room is around 20 sqm.

    my system

Tnx! But since I'm not living in uk it'd be difficult to call him from here. I have a nearby dealer where I can give the Hegel a listen, though not with my speakers. I can't find a place to demo the Rega, though I can get it easily online. The DAC I'd get an used one. It'd be a half blind with a...

    my system

Thank you for the reply. For now I have a Brio-R and a Beresford Bushmaster Dac. Thinking of upgrading to Rega elex-R and DAC or the Hegel. If I get a Hegel I'll also have to get a phono stage but my guess is either option will cost the same.

    my system

Hi all! Thinking of getting an H80 someday. How do you think it would match with my Rega RS3 speakers? Also, how would it's DAC compare to the Rega DAC? Would it be better than an Elex-R and a Rega DAC?

Beginners set up with good looks and sound

Or a Quad Vena with their own new speakers for £1200 and the rest on the turntable. I wouldn't call the Roksan Kandy a good looking amplifier... at all... it's bloody headious... I'm kind of a cheapstake so I make my own cables. If you can solder you should make your own and save a few hundred...

Beginners set up with good looks and sound

A Peachtree Audio Nova65SE for £700, a Rega RP1 and whatever remains on some Rega RS1 speakers if you find a good deal, or whatever the flavour of the month for budget speakers seem to be around here (maybe Dali Zensor 3 or Q Acoustics something)...

    Amp with built-in DAC

Try to get a listen to a Hegel H80, great amp with great DAC. Otherwise, you can get a good amp and a good dac for that kind of money.

    Hegel H80 / Rega Elex-R+D

Thanks Andrew, thank you all. I don't have a dealer that sells both in my country that I am aware of, and I the ones that sell Hegel or Rega are a bit far. And neither sell ATC so it'll be kind of a shot in the dark or a 30 day return full refund deal. I have seen seen a special edition H80 in...
