    Two actives ...

Why active speakers? if you were starting from scratch and didn't have space for an amp it would make sense, you will get more for your money with active. however if you are going to incorporate the Audiolab, why not use it as an amp and just get passive speakers?

Harbeth p3esr original version VS p3esr SE..

I only have experience of the original version, and they are great! enjoy.

    Which amp for B&W?

As others have said, it sounds like the problem is the speakers, not the amp. They like many B&W's are famous for not having the most relaxed of listens. If you aren't considering changing them, there are still a few things to consider before you change your amp. The thing to remember the...

    Marantz CD6007 DAC question

A quick google suggest the amp has AKM4490EQ while the CD has AKM4490. Also thanks to Google, they are use the same technology but the EQ is an updated and improved version. I have no experience of long RCA cables but believe the consensus is around three meters is the max you should go. It...

    Is it over?

Denon need to find a niche. They could be a cheaper, more edgy and trendy sibling to Marantz like Rolex & Tudor, or VW & Seat. Or, they could concentrate on a soundbars over HiFi. Or, Denon do AV while Marantz concentrate on two channel. Alternatively they need to come out with one...

    Preamp suggestions

I would start by considering what you want to achieve. In what way would do you want your system to sound better?

    Question PM7000N Vs STEREO 70s

When I decided I wanted an AV setup, after much deliberation I decided to go for a totally separate system. 7.1 AV, and kept my existing stereo for music. There is no right or wrong, just what suits each individual.

What's on your Hi-Fi auditioning playlist?

I would generally say rather than particular tracks, go with things you know really well. Listen for things you haven't heard before, and listen out for things you don't hear that you are expecting to. I love Metallica's S&M album for a real system workout as there is so much going on between...

    Arcam A-15

Specs like this mean virtually nothing, its all down to how it sounds. There is no substitute for an audition , if you aren't in a position to do this the best you can do is read /watch as many reviews as possible to make sure the sound is in line with what you want. Out of curiosity, what do...

What Hifi component should be the first priority?

The simple answer is that its all about balance, a system is only as good as the weakest element. Over time different components have gone up in price at different rates, so you can't necessarily differentiate by price alone. At the turn of the century there were several great entry level amps...

Question Suggestions for foundational parts of a longer term vinyl setup

I'm sure there must be twelve step programs for this type of addiction! 😉 On a serious note, give the KEFs a chance. You have a compromised room layout. While other speakers may sound better in a listening room, the KEFs are more forgiving and easy to place than most speakers.

    Worth upgrading?

Sorry, forgot to answer the actual question. There are lots of great speakers between £350 and £400 that should show a real improvement. A few to consider: Q Acoustics 5010 or 3020c DALI OBERON 1 Triangle Borea BR03

    Worth upgrading?

The speakers are OK, but probably the weak link. You have a decent amp, all be it one without loads of power. This isn't a problem, you just need yo make sure you don't buy speakers that need more power. The WiiM Mini doesn't have a great DAC, there are lots of options for decent external...

    Next Upgrade- Advice Please

To mix my metaphors, you could find yourself chasing unicorns down rabbit holes. All your components are good, and you like now they sound. You probably need to spend serious money to get a significant improvement in sound. The only thing I would suggest is you have a play with the...

    Question PM7000N Vs STEREO 70s

It probably won't matter for two channel, but HDMI can handle a lot more data than optical.
