What's the point of a Streamer if you have a good DAC and a computer?

I would say convenience. if you want to play music you have to fire up the computer and connect it to the amp. The amp is the physically then tethered to the HiFi for as ling as you want to listen to music. With a a streamer, you just open an app on your phone and let it play.

Question Set-up advice for first turntable, amp & speakers?

Great, if you don't need A CD player, you can spend a little more on a streamer, or keep a little cash in your pocket! The amp, comes in silver, the WiiM Mini is the smaller than an ice hocky puck, so you can hide it. Most speakers come in multiple finishes, the Triangle have an option with...

    Budget newbie advice

Sorry, I had missed this when I responded yesterday. You are talking about an AV amp, but you don't seem to want an AV setup. You will get better sound for your money with a stereo setup. The only good reason to go AV is if your priority is TV/Movies let's get down to brass tacks, what is...

    Budget newbie advice

Don't worry about your output. Optical doesn't have the bandwidth for 7.1, you will get a sound akin to static when the the DAC is trying to decode incomplete information. HDMI is the best option. I'm not massively familiar with Earc, but it is basically HDMI ARC so they will be compatible...

RCA interconnect over 12 meters for Pro-Ject T2 Super Phono deck to AV amp?

There are lots of things here, some that have been addressed. The first one is move the record player close to the amp. Or as per my earlier suggestion have a dedicated stereo system. the speaker placement, looks ok for AV but terrible for hifi. If you are set on your plans, how sure this...

RCA interconnect over 12 meters for Pro-Ject T2 Super Phono deck to AV amp?

If your room is so big you are placing the amp and turntable 40 feet apart, have you considered a separate analogue two channel system? it will probably sound better than your AV system.

Question Set-up advice for first turntable, amp & speakers?

These are UK prices, they may be priced differently where you are. You are probably spending too much of the budget on the turntable. Take a look at the Pro-Ject E1 - £229. It may be a little long in the tooth, but I think the Marantz PM6007 is still the best amp you can buy for the money -...

    Advice regarding speaker size

The room isn't that small, from the dimensions it sounds like typical Victorian semi or terrace. The most important thing about any speakers is their placement. The Dali's are quite forgiving. They only need to be about 30-40cm from the wall, and a couple on meters apart. Everything I...

    4000€, for a tiny room..

I don't get the analogy, you say bad beer, then go onto mention whisky and wine. Are you saying you don't like beer implying there is something you fundamentally object to about the speakers, or that you just dislike bad beer, meaning they are a poor example of what they intend to be?

Chord Alto headphone amp review and measurements - disappointing for £2,500?

I totally disagree with your point, but sort of agree with the conclusion. We can read the stats that will tell us peak power and torque, 0-60 time, top speed, mpg. None of these things tell us how comfortable the seats are, or how much fun it is to drive. To pick one one stat on cars MPG is...

Chord Alto headphone amp review and measurements - disappointing for £2,500?

I'm more interested in how something sounds than how it looks on a graph.

    Advice for TV audio

You will get more bang for your buck with active speakers than amp + speakers. But the latter option has more potential for upgrade. The Denon has lots of features, will you use them? If not there are better amps for the money, the may have better DACs and HDMI connectivity. If you go for...

    The DAC scam

A lot of what he says makes sense. On a slight, but connected tangent, why are some DACs so big? You can fit the components into a cigarette box size case, an external power supply is the same size or smaller. They don't generate as much heat as an amp requiring heat sinks and space for...
