    Question .y proposed HiFi

Both great speakers. You need to listen to them to see which you prefer. Ideally at home as your room with have the largest impact on the sound. Even when you have chosen them, take some time to play with positioning. It can make a massive difference to sound.

How do you listen to your TV?

When I was a student in the 90's I had a little portable TCV with a single speaker on top. I used the RCA from my VCR to connect to my HiFi. I continued to do the same until I got my first digital TV. I was devastated to learn there was no RCA out. I went out to buy a DAC and came home with...

Question Is WiiM still the answer?

What is the best streamer for under £250? A friend has asked my advice on a budget streamer. He has a decent but dated system: Tag McLaren F3 (which I understand to be essentially am Audiolab 8000A from the '90s) and a B&W speakers, the ones with the tweeter on the funny looking 45° sloping...

    Question .y proposed HiFi

Others have alluded to all the points I would make: Can you audition the equipment at a local store? It doesn't matter how good it is, it matters how good it sounds to you. No mention of loudspeakers, if you plan to just listen on headphones, I would look more into a more headphone focussed...

How do you listen to your TV?

I started using optical as I had a spare one at the time I got the receiver. it was fine at first, but when I added extra speakers (7.1) it can't always cope. I got a noise that sounded like a mix between static and baffle rattle. I spoke to the people in the shop who explained optical...

Question How do you listen to music?

I recently asked people with HiFi systems low they listen to music here. How about looking at from the other side. How do people with home cinema setups listen to music? I have separate systems for each.

How do you listen to your TV?

HDMI isn't a problem depending on your amp/receiver. I just have Bu-ray player and Firestick (because my TV is old an lots of apps don't work on it), they go into my receiver via HDMI, then one cable from receiver to TV HDMI ARC. Receiver comes on when I turn TV on, TV and Firestick remotes...

Turntable & streaming system for £3-4k

As mentioned, what you like is very personal. However as lots of others are suggesting what they would choose, here is what I would go for within the parameters you have set. Firstly the caveat, it sounds like the listening room may be a little compromised, especially the speaker placement...

Turntable & streaming system for £3-4k

Looks like you have lots of good suggestions to work from. Do you have a photograph of the corner / unit where you plan to put the system? Also you are trying to avoid "black plastic finishes" have you given any thought to the style you do want? Black doesn't have to be plastic, at the...

may i know the last marantz pm with lateral metal frontal panels?

I think it depends on the price point. I seem to remember those side pieces always being plastic. The previous generation starting with the PM4000 had a flat single front panel, they started out as aluminium, but moved to plastic on the 4200 and 4400, but stuck with metal on the 7200 and 8200.

    Question Marantz M-CR612 alternative

Nothing I can think of, the first things that came to mind were the Audiolab Omnia, and Eversolo Play, and Technics SA-C600. I know the Audiolab doesn't have the A/B speakers, and don't think the other two do either. It is a common feature on Marantz, less so with other manufactures. I have...

How do you listen to your TV?

From what I remember of pictures you posted, you have a Victorian house with a TV in the corner. That doesn't lend itself to surround., but you could make it work. My living room is probably a similar size to yours, but without the fireplace/chimneybreast. Centre and stereo speakers aren't a...
