Ok thank you all for your help, just one last quesiton. Is it worth me buying Studio speakers, I don't have much knowledge of the speaker world but do have a couple of friends who produce music, and was under the impression studio speakers were used specifically for music production?

These look very good, would I need to purchase a DAC with these?

I have a £300 budget and i'm looking for any set of speakers that will play with a 3.5mm audio jack. I mainly listen to house and deep house music. I have been going round in circles for ages looking at floor standing speakers, an amp, recievers, 2.1 speakers, ipod docks and really don't know...
