Does anyone seriously think color sounds worse? It's well known in the US it sounds _better_. Maybe your chemistries aren't right in European manufacturing. Black always sounds ... flat ... compared to the dynamic sound of color.

I would not bother paying for 8k until next-gen HDMI is on board for reasonable refresh rates.

I think the need for 4k+ nits is pretty obvious. If you have seen any of the recent content on disney or netflix they seem to be targeting sets with a brightness in the 10k+ range and are frankly unwatchable on existing technology. All you see is black.

There is a holy grail for TV though. You can deliver a picture bright enough and detailed enough to exceed the capabilities of the human eye to detect any further improvement. We're not there yet, but we're getting close on detail (64k tvs will get there for 100 inch picture at standard...

I wish I could upvote you more than once. Any difference detectable by the human ear can be detected and analyzed with much greater accuracy by a relatively trivial machine, and the analysis of that machine can generate an accuracy score. The fact that audiophile devices are not analyzed this...

Whether they include a DAC etc., more people use IPhone as their primary music source than literally any other device on earth. They set the standard by which superior audio solutions may be judged.

This seems like the most 'why bother' ever ... you're literally doing this on a boat. On the water. Which is ruining your sound experience with white noise relentlessly. The noise floor is at least two orders of magnitude above what you could possibly achieve with high end gear.

It works the other way. A website wants to be a credible authority on the quality of products. They achieve this by not saying things that suggest they might be falling prey to payola.
