    B&W CM5 vs. CM7

I'm with jaxwired. I own the CM7's and they sound great with NAD. I own the NAD 317 which I purchased new in '97 and it still impresses me with B&W speakers. I'm using tubes in place of it right now but would only sell it so I could replace it with another NAD.

Looking for Best amplifier to drive B&W 685 another one to drive Monitoraudio RX6

NAD and B&W are a perfect match for me. I used that combo for 12 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm using B&W CM7's with a 90 watt push-pull tube amp and I'm very happy. Actually, I could not be happier. I would imagine a 55w tube amp would take a pretty good grip on those speakers. What's...

How long is a WHF review valid for?

I've found that audio reviews are irrevelant. You'll spend the rest of your life trying to find that perfect sound, unless you stop spending time reading reviews and go out and listen for yourself. Don't get yourself hooked on what other people think. It costs a fortune.

    Forever.

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

I'm going to try out the NAD. Probably the C375 for starters. I'm also bringing my speakers in to the local Cary dealer to listen to the SLI-80. I want to find out if I like tubes.

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

I put the Rotel CDP back into the mix with the NAD integrated and it seems to warm it up a little more and the highs are not quite as high. I like the sound a lot. There's no doubt in my mind now that the Rotel amp is the culprit. Is there any other equipment besides Arcam and NAD that anyone...

    How to burn in cables

Just enjoy the music and it will happen on its own. I certainly wouldn't grill it, as it shortens the life of the insulation. At most pan searing in olive oil with a pinch of sea salt and some freshly ground black pepper. Here in the U.S. we sometimes hit it with a dab of hot sauce, but that's...

Set ups to find out what sound I like

I can tell you that I'm surrounded with NAD and Rotel gear right now and there's a big difference in sound. The NAD is warm and smooth with good bass punch, where as the Rotel is lean and bright without the bass punch. I got so used to the NAD sound that it's made the Rotel hard for me to listen...

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

Thanks for the reply crusaderlord. I believe what you said is exactly what has happened to me. I can't seem to let go of my love for that warm NAD sound. As you said and I've just noticed this morning, is that although the bass is not as detailed, it's there and the sound is smoother, where it...

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

Jaxwired. This is why I don't like the idea of being loyal to a dealer, as one poster had questioned. I bought this Rotel kit from a friend who gave me an amazing deal on it. My local NAD shop went under and another took over the line, and they don't care about it because they're so into car and...

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

You might have hit the nail right on the head igglebert. I'm playing the CM7's through the NAD and I'm floored at the difference. Why does my $700 (I'm in th U.S.) 80 watt NAD sound like it could move my $2600 worth of Rotel 200 watt amp and preamp out of the way? I wish the wife could hear...

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

Thanks for the reply Jax. I think what I mean by that is that the Rotel in general sounds brighter than the NAD regardless of what source and speakers are connected. The NAD sounded warm to me and I guess I really liked that. I'm not getting the full bass that I was with the old kit. I have the...

    Flat and sometimes fatiguing

My NAD / B&W DM602 set up sounded great. My new kit of Rotel / B&W CM7 sounds a litte bright, dull, and non musical. I believe the issue is the speakers. I've tried several interconnects, speaker wire, moved speakers away from walls and it's still the same. All of that made a huge difference...

    Old system needs an upgrade

I know that if you thought the Marantz was bright, you wouldn't think that about the NAD. You didn't think the Cambridge was bright?
