    DAC to Bluetooth speakers

Hi, I am currently listening to music from a Macbook Pro over Bluetooth to a pair of Ruark MR1s. I'm thinking of adding a DAC and was wondering if there is one I can plug into the Macbook which can send a post-DAC Bluetooth signal to the Ruarks but also let me plug in a pair of headphones to get...

    Marantz PM6003 or NAD C355?

I've used both Marantz and NAD gear over the years and have come down on the side of the grey boxes for the last 5 years or so. Marantz kit is a bit more analytical and sharp, whereas the NAD gear has always felt more musical to me and more inclined to make me get a CD in to play. Interesting...

    Any bass players out there?

I have played bass for nearly 30 years and have got used to studio bass recording. I often wonder if this has coloured my approach to bass on my hifi. I am obsessive about the lower frequencies and move my speakers by millimeters to try and get me a sound like I feel when I am recording - drives...

    Wharfedale 9.1s, what amp?

I run my 9.1s with a NAD setup and it sounds gorgeous, listening to Plastikman on it right now and the bass is awesomely pure

The True Cost of Hi-Fi ?

Like anything it depends on what you buy and how high up the ladder you want to go. For £600 you can get a truly excellent set up, but if you want to squeeze the very ends of high fidelity out of the system you can stick another zero on the end. I like to get good value, hence I'm a NAD fan.......

    Headphones For Heavy Metal

For what it's worth I listen to a lot of metal as well and my Sennheiser PCX450 noise cancellers spread it all out fantastically. I didn't specifically buy them for HM but they worked out very well in that respect. I got them at nearly half RRP on Amazon

    Speakers for Progressive Metal

Many thanks folks, will definitely audition the 10.1s, am currently using 10.0s on my PC setup and they sound great

    Speakers for Progressive Metal

I listen to a lot of prog metal such as Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, King's X etc. and wonder if my speakers are hiding detail from me as although the sound is great it still feels very dense. I love my Wharfedale 9.1s but they are kind of warm alongside my NAD setup and Archos 5 which I use...

Is a 7.1 set up really advantageous?

I reckon it depends very much on the movie. Not particularly noticable on Dark City, however the DTS-ES on the Titanic DVD makes a huge difference, particularly in the scenes where the ship is falling apart and the scenes in the water afterwards, you can really feel the 360 degree effect.

    First home cinema setup advice

That's very interesting, I have converted a similar sized room to a home cinema with a fancy massage chair right in the middle! I tried the Kef 1005.2 but it just didn't feel very expressive - ended up buying MS 902is for front and back and the same centre - came to about £500 and sounds...
