Yes. I’m happy with the unit in all other regards. If I get into headphone listening a little more seriously, I’ll just have to look at adding a few more boxes to my set-up 🙂

Got a reply from Audiolab. They say that the faint background hiss is 'normal' and that they compared it to a brand new unit. I replied to say that I'm disappointed considering that they big up the headphone amp on the 8300 on their website: 'The Sound of Science The 8300CDQ adds further...

Yep, all source selections: CD, COAX1, COAX2, OPT1, OPT2 and USB. The only sources that are silent are Aux 1,2 and 3.

How are you getting on with the AE1s? (Assuming you took delivery of them back in June).

Ah, I see. The vast majority of the time, I use it with my Acoustic Energy AE1s to listen to CDs and streamed music (Qobuz) on my laptop connected via USB. I'm perfectly happy with the SQ listening this way.
