    I smell trouble....

Apple products are mass produced, and in far greater numbers than Sonos will be.

    Question Black, White, or Silver?

Other. Because I lost interest in having stacks of ugly, dust collecting boxes cluttering my living spaces several years ago. I am quite partial to textile finishes on speakers though.

    What are you watching?

I'd be surprised if they're legit. TVL make it difficult to to buy a B&W licence these days. You have to phone them and pay buy card or set up a DD, or you can send them a cheque in the post (who even has a cheque book anymore) I believe. You can't do it online. 405 line ceased in January '85

    What are you watching?

They could easily stop people accessing iPlayer by linking it to a valid TV licence, but instead they choose to confuse and scare people into thinking they need one even if they don't. That's what I take issue with.

    What are you watching?

Nope. You can use iPlayer to view S4C on demand content on iPlayer. It's hidden in the smallprint below https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one Under the section were it says "Make sure you're legally covered" But it's in BBC/TVL interests to confuse and make things as difficult...

    What are you watching?

You only need a licence to watch or record "live" TV or to watch BBC content on iPlayer. The BBC make their content available on other platforms though. Since I watch so little I usually just buy it on YouTube/Google Play or Amazon etc. Morally questionable but most BBC content shows up on...

    What are you watching?

You CANNOT use iPlayer to view BBC content either live or on demand despite what you were told on the phone. Though you can legally use iPlayer without a licence to watch S4C on demand https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one

    What are you watching?

Nope, nor via iPlayer 😉 I haven't watched anything live in over a decade because why would I? It's about the most antiquated and inconvenient way to watch anything!

Series 8 Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. Genuinely the only BBC output I watch these days.

    4K Blow

I wasn't discussing the merits of BD over streaming, simply adding context to the assertion that streaming quality is dependent on network quality. When in reality it's only partially true, given the limitations of streaming, because I guarantee there'll be audiophiles out there who'll be led...

    The DAC scam

A poor analogy. At best it's akin to comparing a 318i in Chilli red to a 318i in Cinnabar red.

    4K Blow

Streaming services are "adaptive " ie the video is segmented, then each segment is encoded at various resolutions/bitrates, the player/client then dynamically switches between the various qualities based on the network conditions at any given time. Having said that, UHD/HDR streaming maxes...
