Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Sound too bright

Sounds like a similar situation when I bought a brand new pair of Monitor Audio RX1's (silver series). The bass in my 4m x 4m room was a bit too much as the speakers had to go in the room corners around 18" from rear and side walls. I found with eq engaged, the sound wasn't quite as detailed as...

    Old system upgrade advice please

Hi Depends on how much you want to spend really. I used quality budget hifi for years (Rotel RA-01, CA Azur 640C) and thought that's all I'll ever need. That is, until I changed to a mid level Roksan Kandy K2 amp and CD player with Dali Lektor 2 speakers. What a difference! Much fuller sound...

Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Sound too bright

I think the BX2's and the Marantz amp are a good match. Sounds like the speakers aren't fully run in. Brand new speakers don't normally sound great straight out the box. The top end should smooth out with use and bass and midrange will improve. Problem is the running in needs to be done...

    Audiolab 8200a

Try experimenting with speaker positioning. It's the only thing that's going to make any significant difference that doesn't cost anything. I assume you have them at the correct height. I have mine almost nine ft apart with a small amount of toe in and I sit eight ft from the centre. Other...

    Audiolab 8200a

Hi Couldn't find any info on the Nad 346bee.. Did you buy the Audiolab with a view to keeping the Nad CD player and Lektor speakers? I have the same speakers and they sound amazing with my Roksan Kandy K2 amp and CD player. Just a case of good matching. As mentioned, the 8200a has a quite...

Best site to sell used Hi-fi

I'm also looking for somewhere to sell some equipment but in my case it's vintage Leak hifi. I recently sold a pair of Sony hifi speakers and some other music related items on Gumtree and have found it very useful. Don't put too many items on there at once though as I was getting more replies...

Marantz PM/CD6004 & Dali Mentor Menuet advice

Thanks for the reply. WHF review on those Tannoys says they can boom a little near a back wall so great that they're working for you. I suspect that they're not placed in corners, that's why I have a problem with too much bass hence the idea of the Menuets.

    Roksan Kandy K2

Hi I have the Roksan Kandy K2 amp and it is pretty powerful. Certainly brought out the bass in my Lektors. As they're in empty room corners I bought a pair of these which has helped reduce the bass boom...

Roksan Caspian M2 integrated amplifier hum

Didn't realize that. Just thought it was just a bit slow. I assume the Caspian and K2 both have this feature.

Roksan Caspian M2 integrated amplifier hum

I sympathize. Have been in that situation before when there's a fault that's difficult to prove. Can be a lot of hassle but the hum should be a straight forward swap, no question. My Kandy K2 CD player had to go back to Roksan for an LCD replacement which was an obvious fault. A more tricky...

    Disappointing first hifi experience!

Sounds promising. I think the Tannoys just need running in. Problem is it needs to be done before the exchange/return period expires.

    Arcam A19/Creek 50A/Roksan Kandy?

For those music styles or any for that matter, the Kandy in fantastic. Smooth delivery with great midrange and has the abilty to make rock and country really kick without harsh or untidy treble.

    rotel ra-10 vs ra-05se

That does sound like stressing the amp out. I prefer the sound with tone defeat engaged. +1 for the Rotel RA-05se. I had the RA-01, same watts per channel but no remote. Neutral sound with good bass. Just avoid partnering with forward sounding speakers. Go for it! Not much wrong with Rotels.

    Disappointing first hifi experience!

Yes, definately. it does take time and patience. Are the Tannoys fully run in? I don't think your going to be short of bass with those and it will improve with use. I've been in the same position although it was too much bass in my case. As suggested, double check the speaker cable...
