I take your point about brands I don't think the dealers here in Nottingham have some of the lesser known kit so it's harder to audition

I am starting to change my thinking. The issue now is whether I spend the £1600 on a new or second hand speaker/amp combo

So you're saying an £800 amp and £800 speakers wouid sound better than a £1500 amp using my existing q35s?

Under the condition you don't take her back there? :grin: I was going to mention a speaker upgrade, but thought better of it.:) No way she'd go back there! Now I'm confused! Do I really need to spend £1500 on an amp? Howmuch nbetter would it be than something like the Creek for half the cost?

I had thought about doing that. I know the Kefs will need upgrading at some point. If i get a great amp now, I can change the other bits later.

Thanks, guys. What will buying a £1500 amp give me over something like a £500 Rega Brio?

My A & R Cambridge has died and I need a new amplifier to drive some Kef Q35 s. My cd player is an ARCAM alpha 8 se. Would a Rega Elicit R be a good buy?
