I'm using a quad 44 Pre /405-2 Power combo with my Ushers, sounds amazing. I have also tried them with a Mission Cyrus III and Pioneer AV amp, both sound pretty good but nowhere as good as the Quad setup. You should be able to get a pair of these relatively cheap on ebay, I had mine serviced...
