    Ae1 vs LS-50

Before you drop £2k on the LS50 wireless try to demo your H90 with Dali Rubicon 2. I had the wireless( and the passive) and they are very very good, but the H90 and Rubicon 2 pairing is amazing. These Dalis are generally overlooked. The H90 gives them plenty of power and control. I’m using a...

What small factor high end speakers are there?

Try to demo Dali Rubicon 2 with a Hegel H90. A very fine and balanced pairing.

Now I know how my system sounds at full blast

Sounds excellent too, it’s an incredible amp. Makes you wonder why anyone could possibly need more power. Big floorstanders in a large room I suppose. There’s certainly no issue with the level of control the H90 offers either.

    Standmounts vs floorstanders

I usually gravitated towards standmounts for the reasons listed in this thread, PMC twenty.21s being my favourites. I always wanted a bit more scale however without losing what the 21s offered. PMC twenty.23, problem solved. I would say they’re an ideal speaker for someone looking for the best...

    All-in-one systems. KEF LS50? Dynaudio Xeo 6?

I was referring only to your assessment of SQ, but yes they should work as advertised. Didn’t grate on me as much I suppose during ownership as I mainly used external sources. A cdp via optical sounded excellent. Most streaming products I’ve owned have fallen short in one way or another. WiFi in...

    All-in-one systems. KEF LS50? Dynaudio Xeo 6?

To be fair for many people they will make a very nice system. Depends on your benchmark. Given the quality and cost of your main system in your sig how could you not be disappointed?

    Roksan reliability

I purchased a brand new K2 a while back and it died after 3 days or so, blown fuse I suspected. Dealer replaced with a new K2 BT. Transformer on that buzzed terribly and very often main house trip switch would trip when I powered up the amp. Many other amps worked fine on same electrical socket...

    Neat Iota Alpha

Oh, and I should mention preferably floor standers for lifestyle reasons, though not essential.

    Neat Iota Alpha

Thanks for the suggestions and apologies for not responding to each post in turn, hectic life at the moment. I would like to venture off the beaten path but generally I’m forced to buy blind. Very difficult then to find much info on more unusual choices. Guru Juniors did catch my eye, just not...

    Neat Iota Alpha

I should elaborate, I’ve never used the 5i-2 with the other speakers listed, just the PMC twenty.21s. It’s entirely possible what I’m liking about the 5i-2 is just down to its synergy with the 21s. I have read very positive things about Neat with Naim too however.

    Neat Iota Alpha

I’ve been through all the usual contenders and found most excellent for different reasons, Q acoustics, ATC, PMC, JMR, Rega, Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, Kef LS50 ( wired and wireless). I’ve enjoyed them all a lot and have rarely moved due to any major issues with sound quality. But none have made me...

    Neat Iota Alpha

Neat Iota Alpha, I can’t get my head around these speakers, nor can I demo them. All reviews and forum talk is very positive but any performance measurements I’ve seen are not too hot. Bass distortion measures high, balance between tweeters is poor, bass response is far from what is claimed...

    Wireless connection to Audiolab DAC

Well he did say he wishes to continue to use the mdac, perhaps for other sources? If that’s not the case I agree with you, the blink is a good enough dac on its own.

KEF LS50 Wireless - First Impressions

There's a few things in set up that I think are critical to addressing your concerns. 1. Regardless of where you locate them, stands, shelf, room size etc I think the bass needs to be reduced via DSP to near its lowest setting. At the very least set it to "small room". 2. Treble is a bit flat...
