    Linn Majik DS ethernet port

100Mbps is plenty fast enough to stream 24/192 over ethernet. The bit about going fibre is of no consequence whatsoever - your LAN speed is dictated by the capabilities of the equipment you're running at home, and if your current router can dish out speeds of 1.0Gbps on the switch side of the...

    Brennan B2

The Brennan B2 looks to be an improvement on the original (MP3 ripping IIRC). Second time around, and much ado is made of FLAC ripping, which is much more preferable state of affairs. I personally am a bit sceptical about all these "all in one" boxes, as you can achieve so much more with a...

Does VLC media player playback in FLAC format?

This is not strictly true. It will do things like downsampling and resampling on the fly if ASIO or WASAPI drivers are not utilised. The Windoze default is to make things play and by whatever means necessary. The use of ASIO or WASAPI drivers overrides this behaviour, at the expense of not...

Tuning the sound of your guitar

Well you've yet to say anything of any value on the subject. How do you qualify your original assertion? If you don't have any first hand experience then your "opinion" is of no value whatsoever.

I see you gave a fools response. I didn't expect any better *wink*

Tuning the sound of your guitar

And your point is? The truth is that different cables do have a subtle effect on the tone of an electric guitar. I have the standard Fender cables, and they're good. My son has one of the Fender Custom Shop cables, and its good too, but subjectively the sound I get using it is smoother. I...

    Oversampling

The DAC is using a different filter because of it receiving the 24/96 stream. The 24 bit isn't doing it, but the 96 part is. CD (16/44.1) has a brick wall filter at 22KHZ - it's there to stop ringing artifacts affecting the audible part. 24/96 has a filter at 48KHz - it's far higher in...

Arcam DAC - Mains Hum When Connected to iMac

Computers are electrically noisy things. Does your iMac have a S/PDIF output? If it does try it. USB connections can be plagued with issues. In truth they're not the best way to shovel music data from your computer into a DAC. The S/PDIF from most Macs tends to be via the headphone output -...

    DAC for NAD 326BEE amp

If you want to get digital out of your iPod you'll need one of these Cambridge Audio iD100 docks, and you'll then need to connect it up to a DAC. The NAD MDC DAC is a plug in module designed to work with the C356BEE & C375BEE amplifiers, not the amp model you've mentioned. Which means that you...

    Spotify and SBT issues

I run the Squeezebox Touch players here predominantly via a web browser, but I do have a NAS running LMS and also providing the browser interface. The NAS has my local music stored on it, and with it running LMS I have used the Triode plugin for Spotify, which was faultless in its operation. I...

    Spotify and SBT issues

It sounds like you're running on the embedded server, which means you'll need to access Spotify via the www.mysqueezebox.com website. This is not reknowned for reliability. There might have been a service update to the Spotify app, so uninstall the app as you have it, then reinstall it.

    Optical or USB Dac?

Why? Doesn't your Mac already have a Toslink out?

    CD Player v Computer

That's about right. Get your computer to prioritise music playback too. On Windows machines you'd use ASIO or WASAPI, dependent on the OS/hardware to do this. I'm not sure if Mac gear needs anything, but it might be worth Googling.
