    Arcam irDAC

Why did I read this read :wall: I was about to pull the plug on Arcam irDac and wanted to see some opinions. I want to replace CA Dacmagic fed from SBT, but it never occured to me to try SBT directly into the amp, without the Dacmagic. Do you reckon SBT will hold its ground when connected...

Speakers on top of Ikea Lack tables/equipment on the floor - help appreciated!

At the moment I have been dealing with the similar situation (luckily, not with the girlfriend - she understands that what has to be done, has to be done, and as long as I respect the colors, I am ok to install any gadgets I want)... I have not been happy with the sound of my hifi setup for a...

    Proac Studio 115

Guys, some time has passed since the last post - and I need an advice on the same topic - Studio 115. I just had a chance to audition the Tablettes (to replace my B&W685), I liked them, but at home I can't use back ported design due to the front of the speaker being only 60cm from the back wall...

Monitor Audio Bronze BX5 with Cambride Audio Azur 650A; a good match?

I used to have CA650A and from my own experience they go very well with Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2. Very good synergy, musical. Also from my own experience with CA650A - stay away from B&W685 (just in case you would want to consider them).

iTunes or Foobar 2k for music playback?

Here is my 5p. In my opinion Foobar is much more of a music player than Itunes. Itunes is barely a library management program with a playback functionality. Foobar is fully customizable with an option of components etc. As a music player player only, foobar vs itunes is like Ferrari to Vauxhall...

    Headphone amp needed

I have bought the other week Little Dot mkIII (tube amp) and I am running it with HD600, fed from Musical Fidelity V-DAC. Little Dot will set you back some 170GBP including delivery. Soundwise, all I can say is "headphone nirvana". This combination has been reported to have a very nice synergy...

Is it possible to connect two USB DAC’s to the same computer?

You can connect them, but you cannot use them at the same time. In the Playback devices (if you use W7) you have to choose the one you want to use.

How will Arcam CD72 compare with a BluRay player with Dacmagic

I think we have a little misunderstanding here. I never intended to use the bluray player as a cd playback machine. It was always going to be just a transport for the external dac. Basically we can narrow down the question to 'Is the sound I get out of Dacmagic going to be comparable with CD72?'..

How will Arcam CD72 compare with a BluRay player with Dacmagic

If I understand correctly - even a £1000 BluRay would struggle to match CD73T purely as a transport?? Because I am not interested in the analog output of the BluRay at all. My only question is if BluRay+Dacmagic would be competitive against CD72T - that means they would have to be very very good...

How will Arcam CD72 compare with a BluRay player with Dacmagic

I will give it a good consideration before deciding what to do. I hope that NAD C355 will tame the brightness a little bit. Anyway, for the digital formats I will be using dacmagic (if it is too bad I can still go back to Beresford Caiman) and if I will have to keep CD72, then so be it. In that...

How will Arcam CD72 compare with a BluRay player with Dacmagic

I have my eyes on this one, I can have it for some 110EUR http://www.whathifi.com/review/panasonic-dmp-bdt310 . It does not do SACD and DVD audio, but I only need something to play my large collection of standard CDs. That is why I am curious if this combined with dacmagic will sound nearly as...

How will Arcam CD72 compare with a BluRay player with Dacmagic

I have some decisions to make so I am looking for an advice. At the moment I am using Arcam CD72 for CDs and WD TV Live with Beresford Caiman for digital files. Caiman is soon going to my study to be used only for PC & headphones, Dacmagic is on its way to me to replace it in the hifi system...

My experience with BW 685: Looking for a new Stereo Amp.

I agree about the midrange character but I cannot comment on comparison with Marantz, never had a chance to try one with 685's. But what really surprised me (in a good way) is how different is NAD from Cambridge Audio in the bass department. Not only it is much deeper and structured, it is also...

My experience with BW 685: Looking for a new Stereo Amp.

I was running my 685's for 18months on Cambridge Audio 650A/C combination and I had all the time feeling that it wasn't right:) A couple a weeks ago I sold the CA stuff, bought second hand NAD C355BEE and Arcam CD72T and boy, what a difference! I found joy in music again:) If the C356 has the...

DACs and FLACs - help needed

Well, you don't strictly need a computer to play FLAC's. In the living room it looks not too stylish in my opinion. I use 3 small black boxes for my digital collection. First one is a 1 TB hard drive WD Elements. Nice simple design, no flashing lights. The second one is WD TV Live media player...
