Thanks, yes. I also need to see what is coming through the headphones and see if that is giving me anything wild in terms of volume, high or low. I'll try to borrow a mate's amp and speakers and swap round and see where the problem lies....

Thanks they are already with bare cable. I've stripped the cable back a bit to get a fresh cleaner wire, will check if that changes anything....
