Been thinking of trying a ML stylus in the cart, I’m happy with the Shibata in there but would like to hear what different flavour the ML might bring.

I wish my records played for an hour a side. It would be nice. Think these days it’s nice to get 6 tracks on one side 😊 so you can sit still for 20 mins or so. The few 45rpm 12” I have are over before I’ve got comfy.

I’ve bought a lot of records recently so thought it only right to play them today. These are albums and EPs I already have on CD and have been playing quite a lot. Comparing them , on my setup, I’m getting more Bass from the vinyl, and the atmospheric tones are a bit more set back. But yeah...

Whichever you decide should be a good starter. Next thing to do is speaker position to try and create a decent soundstage. Plenty of hints and tips on that online.

I prefer cd. I listen to that format most. Vinyl has become more of a collector product than a source of music. I do play it, but get bored/frustrated by its limitations. Some double albums only have two tracks per side, that gets a bit tedious when you just want to sit and listen. Pops...

It will have its time, then probably disappear. (Or shrink to practically nothing) and become even more niche than it already is. I’m trying to wean myself off it but the collector in me keeps buying the damn stuff, then listening to the CD.

I’ve got the goldring e3 too, it’s a good enough cart, but I much prefer the Nagaoka MP110. For me, a way more musical cart. Worth shopping around for. They have gone up in price but I think are still worth the outlay.

Got a nice surprise today. Delivery of an album from Juno. You have got to love Sunday deliveries 😊. Anyway, it’s an album by Ghost, called Meliora and has an EP included. So, I’ve popped it on the turntable this evening and it sounds great. Freshly opened vinyl is probably as good as it gets...

It’s not really a Marantz Tonearm. It’s a Clearaudio Satisfy arm. A friend has the gyro with a rega arm on and it does sound nice, but I think it would be a backwards (sideways) step from the tonearm I already have...
